Actors often accept roles because they love the script. But that doesn't mean they are a fan of the character they are playing. Actors sometimes sign up for roles because they aren't 100% in agreement with what their character does or says. These actors became famous for playing characters they didn't like, regardless of whether the role required them to improve their acting skills or was a chance to make a name for themselves.

These stars aren't fans of their most famous characters...

1. Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson is not shy about his feelings about "Twilight" and Edward Cullen. Robert even admitted openly that he would "mindlessly hate” the films if it weren't for them. Robert describes Edward as someone who exploits the power imbalance between Bella and him.

"Girls say Edward is'sooo perfect', but he's not. People who try to control a relationship when there is an imbalance are not my favorite. This is extremely wrong and very bizarre," she said in a Q&A session held with fans in 2011.

2. Blake Lively

Blake Lively was Serena Van der Woodsen's character on "Gossip Girl," but she says that the role ended being "personally compromising." She said that her character did terrible things on the show, and that she wished she had a better message.

Blake stated, "I wouldn't be proud to give someone cocaine that caused them to overdose, then shot someone, and then slept with another boyfriend."

3. Jamie Dornan

Jamie Dornan knew that he would be playing a character who was different to him when he signed up for the "50 Shades of Grey." films. He says that he wouldn't be friends with Christian.

Jamie said that he is not the kind of guy I would get along with. "All my friends are easygoing and quick with a joke -- I don't see myself sitting in a pub with them." When it comes to selecting mates, I don't think that he would be my type.

4. Evangeline Lilly

Evangeline Lilly was Kate Austen's character on "Lost" between 2004 and 2010. She says her character became less likable over time. While she initially thought she was cool, Evangeline says that Kate became more irritating and didn't enjoy her storyline.

"I thought she was annoying. It wasn't at all the beginning. She was cool at the beginning. But as the show progressed, I felt that she became more predictable and annoying," she said on "The Lost Boys" podcast. My character became less autonomous, with her own story and journey, to being chased by two men around the island. That irritated me.

5. Daniel Craig

He was over James Bond after Daniel Craig played the role in several films. He said that he felt so different from Bond that it became exhausting to have the role.

It can be difficult. It's important that Bond walks into a room wearing a suit. But, as an actor, I don’t care about how I look.

6. Penn Badgley

While Penn Badgley's portrayal of Joe Goldberg in "You" has won him many fans, he is actually "repulsed by" the character. He said that he is hard-pressed to believe anyone could like a stalker or murderer character.

Collider was told by he that he feels that people are responding in some way to the show. "I have been horrified by Joe's parts, and it's strange to be able to portray someone that I feel this way." It's an interesting challenge.

7. Christopher Plummer

Christopher Plummer was adamant for many years that he didn't like his role in "The Sound of Music". Although he finally enjoyed the film in his final years of life, Christopher was still adamant that he didn't like his role as Captain Georg von Trapp.

"I was bored with the character. It was almost like we were flogging a dead horse. The subject matter is not my. It can't appeal all people in the world, I don't think. He told The Boston Globe that it wasn't his cup of tea.

8. Katherine Heigl

Katherine Heigl admitted that she didn't like "Knocked up" or Alison in the 2007 movie. She called the movie sexist and faced a lot of backlash from Hollywood for these negative remarks.

"It was difficult for me to watch [the film], some days. I play such a bitch. Is she such a killjoy? This is how you portray women. Katherine said that 98 percent of the time, it was an incredible experience. However, it was difficult for me to love it.

9. Allison Williams

Allison Williams was Marnie on "Girls", for six seasons. However, she admitted that there were times when she couldn’t stand the character. She said she disagreed with some of her decisions, but was able to let that go to allow her to play Marnie.

Buzzfeed reported that Marnie would drive Allison crazy if she were my friend in real life. But Allison said that she has to let go of that thought in order to play her.

10. Andrew Lincoln

Andrew Lincoln's iconic scene in which he expresses his feelings to Juliet via posterboard has made him a legend. Andrew acknowledges that he had initial doubts about the scene.

"I was the guy who didn't get the girl in one of the most romantic films of all time. The story is like a prism that focuses on all the different aspects of love. My love was not reciprocated. So I became this strange stalker guy. I kept telling Richard [writer-director] Curtis, "Are you sure that I'm going to come off not as a creepy follower?" Entertainment Weekly was told by he.
