10 Of The Most Surprising Masked Singer Reveals

10 Of The Most Surprising Masked Singer Reveals

There have been some shocking revelations, from Johnny Rotten to Lil Wayne.

The Masked Singer is a stage that welcomes celebrities from all walks of life, including professional singers, social media stars and politicians.

It could be anyone when a new contestant in costume steps out on stage to perform. Even though there are many possibilities, some contestants still manage to surprise both the panel and the fans. These masked singers, whether it was a former punk-rocker or a speaking frog kept everyone on their feet.

Below, you can see some of the most surprising Masked Singer contestants.

1. Sarah Palin

The panelists were stunned when former Alaska governor Sarah Palin took the stage wearing a pink-and-purple bear suit to perform Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.” After only one performance, she was eliminated and her identity was a surprise. Sarah admits that joining the show in the past was the "craziest" decision she ever made. She also says it was a way to "give a middle finger to all the haters."

"It was strange, it's wild, and it was fun. It was very much my personality and who I am. Sarah stated that she wanted to live her life in a vibrant way and take risks, because this is how one grows.

She continued, "I have been working on all of these intellectual, political and commentaries for about 12 years -- but I've never gotten a reaction like the one that I received from The Masked Singer. It was a positive experience. It was so positive. "I just loved it."

2. Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn made her Mask Singer debut in 2021 as the Phoenix. The panel could easily identify Jenner, thanks to some helpful clues. However, her addition was unexpected. Caitlyn says that she was initially hesitant to take part in the show, but she is glad she did.

"I was looking for a new challenge, and I knew this would be it. Why not? Have some fun, give it a try. I'm always up for a challenge. I'd encourage any celebrity to take on the challenge. Caitlyn told People, "You're going learn a lot about you."

3. Rudy Giuliani

Rudy Giuliani was one of the most controversial contestants to ever compete in Masked Singer. Ken Jeong left the stage after his performance of “Bad to the Bone” and the reveal to the panelists. Rudy says that despite the negative reaction to the appearance of the disgraced lawyer, he used the opportunity to share with his granddaughter the importance of trying new things, including those that seem unlikely.

4. Ninja

It was the first time that The Masked Singer had a YouTuber on it. The only internet celebrity ever to take the stage was Ice Cream, the professional gamer/streamer. Ken Jeong was the closest to identifying him, but he did not get it right. Ninja believed the clues to be "obvious," but it was not enough for the panel.

I think they need to make it more obvious because they've never had anyone like me on their show. I knew that the kids would find out. "If anyone knew me or my quirky dances they would immediately know it was me," he said to EW.

5. Johnny Rotten

Johnny Rotten, the former frontman of Sex Pistols, seemed to put behind him his anarchic days when he dressed up as The Jester on The Masked Singer. During his stint on the show he covered Alice Cooper's School's Out and "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow", by Soggy Bottom Boys, leaving the panelists in awe. Johnny, after being revealed as the secret participant, said that he found it "hilarious". He took part in the show because his wife was there.

"It seemed like the most bizarre thing to have me on a show of this kind. My nature and the way I am is that I enjoy challenges. It was a test to see if he could piledrive this through with dignity.

He said, "Someone called my manager, and we talked about it. I thought it would really be good, because my wife who suffers from Alzheimer's might have a lot of fun if she could guess who it was." Nora and myself have lived together for 47 year, so I'm sure she knows who I am.

6. Mickey Rourke

Mickey Rourke was only able to perform as Gremlin in The Masked Singer for one performance before he left the show. The Oscar-nominated star did a cover version of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” as a tribute for his late friend Willy DeVille, and then decided unmask himself. Craig Plestis, executive producer of the film, says that he didn't know Mickey was going reveal his identity. It caused panic.

"At some point, you say, 'Go along with it. Nick [Cannon]: Just go with it. "Let's play it all the way to the end.'" So, we felt both scared and excited as the event unfolded," he said in an interview with EW. It all comes down to how we present Masked Singer. We want to maintain the notion that this is not your typical competition show. We embrace the bizarre, the crazy and the unexpected. We're going to embrace the unexpected, and when it happens we won't direct it.

7. Tony Hawk

Tony Hawk, a professional skateboarder who is also a dancer and singer, may not be an expert in these fields but he gave his best on The Masked Singer. Tony Hawk was eliminated after a few tough clues. The panelists were stunned when the identity of Tony was revealed. Tony said that his children were surprised by the reveal.

I thought it would be so frightening, but it turned out to be a cathartic experience. I believed I could. You are confident that you can sing. Let's get started! I practiced more than I probably should have. You only have one minute and half to get it right. Tony told EW that he watched some of the video and thought he sounded fine.

8. Kermit the Frog

The Masked Singer has seen performers from all walks enter the stage. But it was a first to have a puppet in the competition. Kermit the Frog was the first puppet to appear on the show's fifth season. He threw all the panelists off. Jenny McCarthy thought that the contestant dressed as Kermit was doing it to confuse the panelists. Everyone was surprised when it turned out that Kermit was the contestant in the costume.

It was fun and refreshing to be mistaken for these iconic comic actors. Kermit joked that he was often mistaken for Yoda, or the Hulk’s younger brother because he is green.

9. Lil Wayne

Fans would probably be surprised to see a rapper like Lil Wayne on a family-friendly reality show such as The Masked Singer. Robin Thicke said that he was "most surprised" when the rapper's identity was revealed. Wayne has long been a fan of the show and wanted to be a part.

"I've watched since the very first episode. I knew the moment it aired that it was T.Pain. Due to this, I told [Young Money President Mack Maine] that he should call them. I told him to let 'em (Young Money president Mack Maine) know that I was a big fan and I wanted Nicki [Minaj] to be on the show. Wayne said, "Tell them I'd love to have Nicki there.

10. Logan Paul

Logan Paul, a controversial YouTuber and boxer who turned to the real world in 2021, appeared on The Masked Singer but did not make it far. Logan Paul was eliminated after two performances, one of which included a rendition "Bad Reputation," that impressed the judges.

Logan said to ET that "it was nervous fun to begin with, but then I fell in LOVE with the show. And the moment I fell for being on the program, I was eliminated!" Logan added, "I liked the anonymity of the show because it allowed me to be somewhat vulnerable in a costume. In a costume so restrictive, you feel liberated. It's difficult to sing, dance, or even move. It was insane. It was a real challenge."
