7 Major Boy Meets World Revelations From The 'Pod Meets World' Podcast

Danielle Fishel and Will Friedle spilled the beans on everything, from "creepy interactions" with executives to a rumor that they called "next-level crazy".

Boy Meets Worldturned thirty this month, and diehard fans of the show are still as passionate as ever. The Pod Meets Worldpodcast is helping fans get their Boy Meets World fix while the majority of the cast reunites at a convention to celebrate the milestone. The former costars Rider Strong Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle joined forces to launch the Rewatch podcast in 2022. Since then, the trio has been spilling the Boy Meets World secrets behind the scenes, good and bad.

The Pod meets Worldpodcast has had a lot of drama so far.

Danielle secretly admired her co-star Rider Strong

Danielle revealed on the podcast that for nearly 30 years, she was in love with Rider. When a fan inquired about her on-set crushes, Danielle admitted to having feelings for Rider since season 2. Rider was shocked when he heard the news.

"It's not true! You've never told that to me!" Rider exclaimed. You saved it for 30 years?" I was your first celebrity crush. Jonathan Taylor Thomas was with me. "You really had the teenage magazine thing covered all through the 1990s."

Danielle said that she loved the fact that Rider was "so effusive" and "so intelligent." She says that quality still exists today.

Rider is effusive. This still holds true today. He's not afraid to tell you what he thinks and is very generous with his compliments. Danielle said that when Rider compliments you, you can tell it's thoughtful and has real meaning.

Topanga's original actress was fired because she wasn't "pretty" enough

Bonnie Morgan was the young actress who played Topanga before Danielle was cast. Bonnie Morgan revealed as a podcast guest that she made it to the first production day, but was fired on the second day.

Bonnie, looking back on it, says that the first day was not bad. This is despite having a heated exchange with David Trainer about how to deliver a certain line. The next day her father received a call informing him that she was fired. She claimed that when her agent asked what was wrong, they were told Bonnie could not take direction. The agent denied the claim and learned later that David had allegedly said she wasn't "pretty" enough.

She said, "It became clear to me very quickly that the director did not like me. He didn't even think I looked good." "This meant that an adult, a man or a boss could lie to me and say I wasn't talented because he didn’t think I looked good. "I was broken."

Danielle nearly got fired on her first day at work

Things got off to an rocky start when Danielle was cast in the role of Topanga following Bonnie's departure. Danielle, then 12 years old, was told by Michael Jacobs that she spoke too quickly on her first day of filming. She tried to slow her speech down, but he still reprimanded her. She said that at the end, Michael Jacobs gave the cast notes but told Danielle not to leave because she had so many notes. He didn't want the rest of cast to waste their time.

Michael begins the notes with the words, "Danielle, you will get all your notes at once, at the very end. I'll give everyone their notes right now. If I made you sit through them all, it would take us hours to finish and nobody would be able to leave. You'll just have to wait until the end. My eyes filled up from that moment because I was in front of everyone -- the producers, the writers, the cast, and they were all looking at me," Danielle said.

She continued, "What I heard was, if tomorrow you don't do this completely differently, I'm also not going be here." This was a reference to the girl she had replaced.

Danielle and mom practiced until late at night after Michael read the script. She said that the next day she had been able to show Michael she was worthy of his approval.

William Daniels nearly didn't get cast as Mr. Feeny

William Daniels did not immediately accept the role of Mr. Feeny when it was offered to him. He admits that he had some hesitations about the role , which led him to reject it, starting with the character name.

"I requested a meeting with Michael Jacobs because I declined and he asked why. I replied, "Well, it's a funny nickname and I don’t want to make fun of the teachers. William remembered, "I respect them because they are unpaid. Then he explained to me that my character was based off of a mentor he had when he was still in high school. I knew the plot would be written respectfully."

William agreed to the pilot but almost quit after a poor first table read. Michael rewrote some of the script after William threatened to leave the show.

Danielle's "creepy interactions" with a show executive

Danielle admits that she was a mature child for her age when she starred on Boy Meets World, but she now says she wasn't always appropriate in some of the interactions with adults she had on set. She recalled an "eerie" conversation she had with a show executive when she was talking about becoming "an object for desire at such a youthful age." The executive, who was only 16 years old, told her he hung a photo of her calendar on his wall.

I had people tell that they had marked my 18th Birthday on their calendar. Danielle stated on the podcast that she had a male executive who told her he had his calendar with a specific calendar month.

Danielle said that she was initially shocked, but later realized they were peers. "This is how you treat peers," she explained. She said that she "wanted always to be seen as a mature adult," and receiving attention from a male adult did not seem creepy or strange to her at the time.

"I felt that it was a validation that I am mature, an adult, and capable. They saw me for who I am and not based on the number of a page. In retrospect, this is a mistake," Danielle concluded.

Rider was not happy with the way that the prom episode

Rider mentioned the season 5 prom episode during a podcast in which the cast discussed Boy Meets Worldepisodes that were allegedly "banned". In "Promises, Promises", Topanga contemplated having sex with Cory after prom. Rider said that he didn't like the way the episode was handled.

"I was very upset that whole week. "I was upset at the adults in our group, the way they approached this issue and specifically because we weren't discussing safe sex," Rider stated.

He said, "I was so upset that I brought this up. The entire episode was about if they would or wouldn't use condoms, or have a conversation about birth control. I remembered talking to Michael and asking, "Can we discuss this?"

Jacobs, according to Rider, told him that Rider's concerns were "ridiculous."

Trina Mcgee believed her co-stars were removing her from the final

Trina Mcgee was noticeably absent from the season 7 finale. Trina McGee claims that at the time she was told by her castmates that did not want her to be part of the finale.

"I was informed in a strange, offhand way by someone very important that you all went to Michael Jacobs and said, 'We didn't want her on the last episode.' She is somehow taking our lights. Trina, a podcast guest, said: "That was the essence of it."

Later, she added: "I knew the last show would be the one that had the tears and the ratings. I thought y'all had decided not to have me on the last show for some reason. It hurt me for quite some time."

Rider, Danielle, and Will were all shocked when they heard that Trina was told that. They swore it was not true, and called the situation "next-level crazy." Danielle, while it was shocking to learn, admitted that Trina and she were always pitted against one another on set. However, they have now worked things out.

It's a shame that we didn't have the chance to discuss this issue from the start. Danielle concluded, "We could have helped one another."

Jacobs has not publicly responded to any claims made in the podcast. However, Fishel told Variety recently that Jacobs sent an email after the first two episodes aired telling them that he loved the show and was proud of it. She continued, "Since that time, we've heard he is upset ."
