After a pair pajamas and some hair from the victim were submitted for DNA analysis 35-years later, the victim was arrested.

Judith Ann Jarvis, 76, is currently in Pennsylvania jail after being charged by authorities with the 35-year old death of her husband Carl Jarvis.

Carl's naked body was found with a fatal gunshot wound in the head, on August 10, 1987. This happened after Judith called police regarding a domestic dispute. According to a criminal complaint, she claimed that her husband had thrown a coffee pot at Carl and that she was afraid, but not physically hurt.

Judith allegedly said that she hadn’t been in the house since calling 9-1-1... and then, when police discovered the body, she told authorities she had not seen it or touched it. The police noticed blood on her pajamas. However, she claimed that it was hers from a goose bite.

Carl was 42 years old when he died.

A forensic pathologist at the time concluded that the victim could not shoot himself in the way the body was found. However, no charges were ever brought against the victim.

Judith was arrested on Tuesday by Perry County DA Lauren Eichelberger. She announced Jarvis's murder and placed Jarvis in Cumberland County Prison without bail after an update of the investigation.

She explained that the pajamas and some hair of Carl were resubmitted to DNA analysis in 2020. The blood was returned as a match for victim... not Judith.

Eichelberger said that the Pennsylvania State Police had also found that Judith and Carl were the only people home on the night of Carl's murder... and that Carl could not have died from a gunshot wound.

"Since 1987 members of the Pennsylvania State Police worked diligently in order to resolve the family of Carl Jarvis," Pennsylvania State Police Lieutenant Daryl Vankirk stated during the press conference, "and today we are pleased to announce the arrest."
