Her son, who was distraught, said that he had been on his way to visit her for the holidays but arrived too late.
Antonio Brown, 23, has been charged with the murder of Eleanor Bowles (77), a Buckhead resident. She was found fatally stabbed in her garage on Saturday.
Atlanta Police Department confirmed that they responded to a Saturday call from a woman who was unresponsive at 5:50 PT. The woman had suffered "multiple lacerations" during the incident and was declared dead at the scene. Michael, her son, discovered the woman and told Fox5 that he was on his way to visit her during the holidays. He arrived to her "a few hours late".
He said, "Finding her as that is something that I will always remember." Her worst nightmare was what happened to her. It is most people's worst nightmare. Police believe that the victim stopped the suspect from robbing her Lexus. It was also taken.

Police released photos Sunday morning of a person of concern. Crime Stoppers offered a $10,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. The photos ( over) show a male outside a garage opening the SUV's doors. Later, the vehicle was found in DeKalb County.
Due to the release of images, authorities confirmed Brown's arrest on Monday. Brown is also facing murder charges as well as aggravated battery, possession or attempt to possess a firearm or knife in commission or attempt of certain felonies. He was also charged with elder abuse, hijacking a motor car, and possessing or attempting to conceal a firearm or knife.
Mayor Andre Dickens stated that he had issued a call yesterday to identify a person of concern in the camera footage. Brown was reportedly noticed by a neighbor who saw the photos and called the police within 24 hours.
He said, "When something like that happens, the whole village is impacted" and called for support. "And regardless if you reside on the northside or southside of town, or east or west, APD will exhaust all resources to bring violent criminals before justice is served and keep our streets safe.
He concluded that "the killing of Ms. Bowles was understandably rocking the community."
It's not clear how the suspect got through the community's security gates.
Michael stated that he was committed to spreading the word about this tragic event after his mother's passing. "And I want everybody to know that we are all vulnerable. I hope people will read this story and get the message. Then maybe we can all work together to make a difference. For mom, I will always carry this message.
Eleanor loved the Atlanta Humane Society & Society For Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Georgia, so a GoFundMe was set up in her name to raise more than $31,000.
