9 Television and Movies Scenes That Actors Hated Filming

"I read the script and thought, "Well, that's a horrible thing to do."

Actors often sign up for new projects because they love the script. When it comes to filming, some scenes in the script prove to be more challenging than they expected. Some actors even admit that filming movie scenes is not something they enjoy. These stars were not happy with their characters' actions, or simply embarrassed by them. They fulfilled their promises to their projects and read their scripts more carefully now.

These scenes are why these actors loathed them.

1. Hugh Grant

Hugh Grant admitted that he didn't really want to film one his most memorable movie moments. According to Hugh Grant, when he first read the "Jump” dancing scene in "Love Actually," he was against it. He was contractually bound to perform the scene. It ended up being a favorite part of many movie fans.

"I read the script and thought it was awful. I was not interested in the choreography, much less the rehearsals. But then, some people like it," Hugh stated during ABC's special "The Laughter & Secrets of Love Actually 20 Years Later".

2. Kit Harington

Kit Harington admitted that he didn't like any scenes of "Game of Thrones," in which he had Daenerys dragons on set. These digital additions were made during post-production. Although he initially thought it would be easy, he quickly realized how difficult it was to ride CGI dragons.

"I was on the back of the buck [the rig used to film the dragon-riding scenes] longer than we filmed the whole 'Battle of the Bastards. Emilia Clarke had been complaining about it for several seasons. I was like, "Yeah. Yeah, yeah." Whatever. You have never been through the Northern Ireland mud. What's a buck to do in a warm, cozy room? Boo hoo. Boo hoo.' It was horrible. It isn't acting at all. It's notacting. It neverwill act. And it notwhat it was I signed up for. It looked amazing, right? It was just horrible! Kit said that it is extremely uncomfortable for a man."

3. Penn Badgley

Although there are many things Penn Badgley dislikes about his character, he said that the episode's finale was the worst. He admits that he didn't like most of the episode but he said the best part was the masturbation scene outside Beck's house.

It's funny. I don't want to repeat what I did -- masturbating outside her home. That's exactly what I was doing. Joe was doing the same thing. That's what I had a to do. It was a disgusting experience that I felt, even though I didn't want to. It was funny. They wanted me to close my eyes, and I recall being like, "No!" Why?' They were confused and said, "Cause it's too creepy when your eyes are open." I was confused and asked them what they meant. "What are we doing?" Penn shared.

4. Lili Reinhart

Lili Reinhart was so annoyed by filming scenes about "Dark Betty," for "Riverdale", that she had to ask the show's producers if they would remove Betty's alter-ego from the script. The writers were gracious and agreed.

It almost became a joke of itself, I think. Lili explained to Teen Vogue that it was supposed to be her dark side that she couldn't express and that became a strange sexual thing people didn't understand.

5. Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba said that her death scene in "Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer" was one of her least favourite moments to film. She said that her acting was criticized by the director and made her question her abilities. It even led her to want to quit acting.

"I can still remember the time I was dying in Silver Surfer. "It looks too real," said the director. It's too difficult. Can you look prettier when you cry ?...Don’t do that with your face. Keep it flat. You can CGI the tears. This got me to thinking: "Am I not good enough?" Are my instincts or my emotions not strong enough? Are they so hateful that they don’t want me to be real people? I said, "F--- it." Jessica stated to Elle that she doesn't care anymore about the business in 2010.

6. Courteney Cox

Courteney Cox has filmed more than 200 episodes of "Friends," but her least favorite scene was actually the opening credits. According to Courteney Cox, the famous clips from the fountain in the intro were a nightmare to film.

"We were there for quite a while in that fountain. Someone thought that this would be great fun, I don't remember who. Courteney stated that it is not enjoyable to dance in a fountain for hours." Courteney spoke on "The Ellen DeGeneres show."

7. David Schwimmer

He hated Marcel the monkey when it came time to film "Friends" scenes with David Schwimmer. David said that the primate was present in eight episodes of the series. David explained that the monkey was trained but the monkey sometimes didn't do her job correctly and the trainers had to rework scenes several times. David also revealed that the trainers fed the monkey live bugs between takes which eventually got all over him.

"Here's my problem: The monkey was obviously trained. It had to be on time and hit the mark. It was inevitable that we all would have choreographed bits of timing out and it would get messed-up because the monkey wasn't doing its job correctly. We would need to start over, as the monkey did not do its job right," David stated during the HBO Max "Friends” reunion special.

8. James Marsters

James Marsters, star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, said that he hated filming the scene where his character Spike tried to sexually assault Buffy. He said it was "the most difficult day of his professional life" and couldn't bear to watch it.

"In between takes, I was in a fetal position. It's hard for me to watch such scenes. I don't want to. It's something I don't want to see in a movie. This is a hot button for me. It drives me insane. It was very difficult. It was unbelievably difficult. But again I'm glad we did it. James explained to AV Club that Spike was evil and that many people forget about it."

9. Daniel Radcliffe

Anything that involved quidditch was Daniel Radcliffe’s least favorite part about filming "Harry Potter." According to Radcliffe, riding on a broomstick in front a green screen was not pleasant.

He told IndieLondon that Quidditch was one of the most painful things he's done on Harry Potter . It's not a pleasant experience and does cause some pain.
