A pregnant Librarian was shot dead after pulling a gun on a biker who followed her home in Road Rage Incident. Police

Witnesses claim it was self defense. However, the woman called 911 to say she was afraid.

According to Florida police, a pregnant woman was shot and killed after pulling a gun on a cyclist she deliberately hit with her car.

According to Orange City Police Department, Sara Nicole Morales (35), was shot and killed by Andrew Derr, 40, after he followed her on his motorcycle home following a road rage incident.

The incident happened shortly after 5 PM on Saturday, November 20th. Police received 911 calls reporting that there was a hit-and-run accident on North Volusia Ave.

Orange City PD claims that Morales intentionally struck Derr's motorcycle. "This was a minor collision, Derr wasn't injured or ejected from the motorcycle."

Derr and other witnesses tried to stop the blue Kia leaving but she ran away. Police claim that Derr and other witnesses "followed Morales to try to identify her for law enforcement."

According to them, the pursuers arrived at her Wisconsin Avenue home and called 911 to get the address.

According to the police statement, "Morales entered her home and re-emerged shortly afterwards." "Morales confronted Derr and the witnesses, while they were calling 911." Morales pointed a gun at Derr and witnesses.

"Derr was carrying a Florida Concealed Weapons permit and pulled his concealed handgun. He fired multiple shots, striking Morales. Morales' gun was found on the scene.

They stated that Derr was still on the scene and had "cooperated with law enforcement since the beginning."

The statement stated that "These facts were established by independent interviews".

Fox35 obtained bodycam footage that shows Derr being accosted by police officers at the address. Officers approach Derr and demand that he get down on the ground. He does so.

"Please don’t shoot me!" He begs. He begs. The girl tried to kill my life. She pointed a gun at my face."

He says, "I'm so sorry," as he is placed facedown in handcuffs. "She tried to kill my mother, and the other people around me are armed, they also have guns."

He adds, "Please be gentlemen." "I didn’t do anything wrong in defense of myself."

WFTV reported that investigators released a variety of 911 calls from the incident, including one by Morales, which claimed the men were aggressive and threatening her.

One call was made by a witness to a crash. The dispatcher asked "Is the bike down on the ground?" Is he conscious and breathing?

The witness responds: "He's fine...the woman just took off, and then left."

Another call captured the moment that the fatal shots were fired.

"You are three men. You followed me. You must leave me alone! You can hear the morales screaming -- before eight gunshots took her out.

According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, a man can be heard saying that "She tried pulling a gun on my"

The 911 dispatcher is then informed by one of the witnesses: "The lady has been shot." She was shot by the man on his bike. In self-defense, he shot her.

Doreen Flaherty, Morales' mother, also called 911 in panic to inform the dispatcher that her daughter had been shot and that she was pregnant.

"My daughter, she was shot!" She screams, "My daughter has been shot in 10-52 Wisconsin in Orange City." "Get here now, she's pregnant!"

Wilber Perez, Morales' boyfriend, told the News-Journal that his girlfriend, five-month-old and about to propose to him, was afraid after he chased her down to her house by three men.

Perez stated that Perez was not a person who would cause trouble or simply pull a gun on people. "She must have been scared to have her mother and 11-year old daughter at her home.

Perez claims that Flaherty saw her daughter holding her hands up in the air and telling Derr to get out when she was shot.

Flaherty said that she had shot Flaherty in her backyard. She is now 36 years old. She was pregnant with her second baby and has left behind her 11-year old daughter and her loving husband.

The initial road rage incident was not revealed by police.

Orange City police officer Jason Sampsell said that Derr and Morales had spoken just before she struck him. Derr was not hurt.

"We don’t know why she hit him." Sampsell stated. Sampsell said, "She swerved in front of him and before the vehicle made impact, he warned her not to stay away. He is pulling away and she pulls up to his side and gets right into him."

Sampsell stated that Derr and the two other witnesses who followed Morales home from work do not know each others.

The investigation is ongoing and no one has been charged or arrested.

All Pierson and DeLand libraries where Morales was an assistant since 2019 were temporarily closed in order to allow staff to mourn their lost colleague.
