"I never, ever get naked on TV or in film. Nothing, never, nope."
Alicia Silverstone is a stripper for a good cause.
After previously appearing in the buff for PETA numerous times, the 46-year old "Clueless” star gets completely nude again for a new PETA campaign.
She's urging designers and customers to consider eco-friendly options like mushroom, cactus, and apple leather. The ad was inspired by the vegan cactus alternative.
"If you want me to get naked in order for you care about animals, then that's what I want. Silverstone, who has been a Vegan since 1999, describes in a video of the photoshoot. "I have never, ever, gotten naked on TV or in film. But I did it for PETA because it's important to me."
It is amazing how much energy, water, food, oil, transport and food it takes to make leather. It is not sustainable. It's not sustainable," she said. I have discovered really great materials that are natural. They use mushroom leather, pineapple leather, and cactus leather. My dream is for these eco-friendly, vegan materials to be in the hands of the best designers.
She said, "I'd rather go unclothed than wear animals," and urged viewers to "be conscious of the earth because it is our home."
The 29-foot ad is up in Times Square today, at the intersection 40th Street & Eighth Avenue.
Silverstone was first photographed nude by PETA in 2007 for a campaign to promote veganism. In 2017, she did it again for PETA's "I'd rather go naked than wear wool" campaign.
