Disney is not planning to slow down because these live-action remakes are doing so well in the box office. Currently, Disney has 15 live-action remakes in production. And there will be many more!

What Disney fans can look forward to seeing...

1. "Peter Pan & Wendy

Disney's next animated film to be adapted into a live-action version is "Peter Pan & Wendy", based on J.M. Barrie novel. Disney's live-action version of "The Little Mermaid", which has been highly anticipated, is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Friday, May 26. Rob Marshall will direct the film and it will feature music composed by Alan Menken & Lin-Manuel Miranda. Halle Bailey has been cast as Ariel, a choice that was met with hateful backlash due to Halle's skin color. Disney has not changed their mind despite the backlash. Halle Bailey has also spoken about how it's important for children to be able to identify with characters who look like them.

Halle explains: "What would that have done for me? How would that have changed my confidence in myself?" "Things which seem small to others, are huge to us."

3. "Snow White"

The live-action version of "Snow White", set to debut on March 22, 2020, will be a big hit. Benj Pasek, Justin Paul and the duo of "La La Land", are currently working on new songs. Rachel Zegler will star as Snow White, while Gal Gadot is the Evil Queen.

Rachel said, "I never in a million year thought that this role would be possible for me." "You don’t usually see Snow Whites of Latin descent. Snow White is a huge deal in Spanish-speaking nations... When it was announced, the whole thing was a trending topic on Twitter for several days because everyone was angry. We must love them in a positive way. After all, I have an important job that I am really looking forward to. "I get to be Latina Princess."

4. "Mufasa The Lion King:

Disney will release a prequel to "The Lion King" in 2019, a sequel that is highly anticipated. "There are some questions about how to translate it into a musical," said Variety. "Audiences have been conditioned by TikTok today, right?" What are their expectations of how that musical will look and feel? This can be fun and allow us to push the limits a bit in terms of how we execute a contemporary musical."

7. "Aladdin 2"

Disney is now working on a sequel to the live-action film "Aladdin". Executive producers Dan Lin, Jonathan Eirich, and Mena Massoud have signed on, even though it is not known if the original stars Mena Masoud, Naomi Scott and Will Smith will be returning. Questlove will not only be the director, but also oversee the music of the film. Will Gluck, Keith Bunin and others will write the script.

16. "Moana"

The latest addition to Disney’s live-action line up is the remake of “Moana”. The "reimagining” of the 2016 animated movie will feature Dwayne „The Rock“ Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho as producers. Dwayne Johnson will reprise his role as Maui, but it is not known who will play Moana.

A studio release shared that "like its animated predecessor, this film will celebrate the island communities and traditions as seen by a young woman who is eager to pave a path for herself," "Moana’s journey of self discovery and reflection on her ancestors’ lives won hearts around the world, as did her friendship with an exiled god named Maui."
