Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson are in the new footage as well as Yahya Abd-Mateen, II, and Nicole Kidman. However, Heard's Mera is only visible for two very brief moments.

The first trailer for Aquaman & the Lost Kingdom is finally here -- but those hoping to see more Amber Heard’s Mera may be disappointed.

The Atlantean Queen appears only twice in the clip. Once, she is seen running around the burned-down home of the Curry family with Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, and then again, breaking the glass on what appears to an underwater ship.

Heard claimed that she had "fought hard" to remain in the movie and "they didn't include me in it." She also said, "they didn’t want to be in the film".

James Wan confirmed that she would have a reduced role in the sequel. He told EW, in a recent magazine cover, that the film "was always going to be" about Aquaman and his older brother, Patrick Wilson’s Orm.

He said that the first film was "Arthur's and Mera's Journey" and was a "romance-action-adventure" movie, but this was a "bromance," before concluding "We'll just leave it there."

In the sequel, Mera and Arthur raise a child together before Yahya Abd-Mateen's Black Manta, wielding his mythical Black Trident in a vengeful rage, returns. Aquaman joins forces with his brother in order to take on the antagonist.

Below is the official synopsis. The movie will be released in theaters on December 20, 2023.

Black Manta will do anything to eliminate Aquaman once and for all. Still driven by his need to avenge the death of his father, he has failed to defeat Aquaman before. Black Manta, armed with the mythic Black Trident and a powerful ancient force, is now more powerful than ever. Aquaman, who is imprisoned, will form an unlikely alliance with his brother Orm, former King of Atlantis. They must put aside their differences to save their kingdom, Aquaman's family and the entire world from destruction.

Jason Momoa is Arthur Curry/Aquaman. He is now the King of Atlantis as well as a father. Patrick Wilson plays Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother, and is now his reluctant ally. Amber Heard is Mera and the mother of Atlantis’ heir. Yahya Abdel-Mateen is Black Manta. Dolph Lundgren reprises his role as King Nereus, and Randall Park plays Dr. Stephen Shin.
