Anna Nicole Smith allegedly married a woman friend with whom Anna Nicole Smith had a secret affair, just a few weeks before she wed J. Howard Marshall in front of the world.

In an interview with People and the Netflix documentary "Anna Nicole Smith - You Don't know Me", Melissa "Missy " Byrum says that this is what she believes.

Byrum claims that the pair met in the late 1980s while working together at a Houston Strip Club, and began a relationship in 1992. Byrum, referring to Smith as "Nicki," stated that the two grew closer as Missy took care of Anna’s son Daniel while traveling "all the time."

"We fell in love, you know?" It was conscious. Byrum said, "She told me that she loved [me], before adding that she was not Smith's first female lover. We'd both had bad relationships with men. We decided we didn't want men. We decided to raise Daniel together.

Smith's friend Pol' Atteu also described Smith as sexually "fluid," and added, "We simply did not have a term for it back then."

Byrum claimed that Smith proposed to Byrum in 1993, and they were married "in backyard with champagne." She claimed that the ceremony was not legally conducted and only the housekeeper attended.

Missy said, "She wanted to have a child with me." "But I knew it was never going to work because she would never settle down with a single person."

She added that "she needed more love than one person could give her", before saying Smith's addiction led to their breakup.

"She was like a woman when she conquered a man." Missy said, "You were just a notch in her belt. She's on to the next one." She was a prodigy who always wanted something new. Once you've given in to her, she has conquered you. You are no longer a challenge.

Smith, who had previously been married to the father of her son Daniel from 1985-1993, married J. Howard Marshall (a billionaire) in 1994. They remained together until 1995 when he died, after which they had a bitter court battle about his estate. Anna welcomed her daughter Dannielynn in September 2006, just days before Daniel's death from an overdose. Five months later, she too died from an overdose.
