Ariana Grande Shades 'Old' Self Over Makeup Choices, 'Over Drawn Lip' and 'Thick Cat Eye'

Ariana Grande Shades 'Old' Self Over Makeup Choices, 'Over Drawn Lip' and 'Thick Cat Eye'

In a TikTok clip for her R.E.M. Ariana Grande, the upcoming star of "Wicked", has a candid conversation with her "old self" about some of the bolder makeup decisions she made back in those days.

We often look back on our fashion choices, hairstyles and makeup and wonder what we were thinking. We might want to look back at our choices and ask ourselves questions.

Ariana Grand has done just that with a cute video, released by her R.E.M. Beauty line. The future "Wicked star talks candidly with her "old self" about her old signature look.

Ariana, a younger Ariana, asks herself: "Do you feel your eyes are too smoky to wear every day?"

Her counter-self replies, "Yeah I'm going though a phase. Is that okay with me?" When challenged, the current Ariana immediately backs off as "old Ariana" gets right back to it.

She captioned it, "me to the old me who would never dare to be seen without thick cat eyes and over drawn lips."

Although it was not mentioned in the video clip, her style was much more relaxed than the signature look she had adopted for the 2010s when her hair was always pulled into a tight high ponytail. It looked more relaxed, and even her bangs were a little looser.

This self-deprecation is yet another Ariana move that she seems to not have left in the past. It comes only a few months after "Dangerous Woman's" singer called internet trolls out for complaining about her body changing.

In a TikTok that was very diplomatic, the "Thank U Next" singer stated that she does not enjoy doing it or thinks it's a bad thing to do, but she still wants to "address your concerns about my physique and talk about what it is to be a human with a physical body, and be seen, and be so closely observed."

She continued to state that she believes that "we should always be kinder and less comfortable with commenting on the bodies of others, regardless."

She continued to say we should try to avoid commenting on other people's body, even if it's well-intentioned. We may think that we are complimenting someone. She said that there are many ways to compliment someone, or to ignore what you don't want to see.

She called out those who compare her appearance today with how she looked in the past, noting there are different ways to be healthy and beautiful. She said, "The body you have been comparing to my current body was the least healthy version of my body."

Grande continued, "I looked like you do when you are healthy. I was drinking and eating badly and at my lowest point in my life. But in reality, that wasn't my "healthy."

Grande was busy working on the film adaptation of "Wicked," the Broadway hit musical, in which she plays Glinda opposite Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. John M. Chu is set to release the film in theaters on November 27, 2024.
