Chambers shares why she did not participate in the doc and how she was "surprised" to be watching it. She also explains where Hammer stands now.
Elizabeth Chambers, the estranged wife of Armie Hammer, was one of many who tuned in to Discovery+'s "House of Hammer” docuseries.
Chambers split with Hammer in 2020, and she is currently going through the divorce proceedings. Chambers, who split from Hammer in 2020 and is currently going through a divorce with him, revealed that she watched the series. It explored the allegations of sexual abuse against Hammer and also included a deep dive into his allegedly sordid family history.
Hammer is accused of sharing cannibalistic fantasies and sexual assault with women. He has denied these accusations. At this point, he has not been charged with any formal offenses. Chambers and the "Call Me By Your Name” star have two children together: Ford, 5, and Harper, 7.
Chambers stated that although she didn't plan to see it, she did drop her children off at school and returned home to watch it with my support network. It was clearly very difficult and heartbreaking on many levels. It is also real. We can only learn from the past, but we must also listen to it and try to heal as best we can.
She stated that she was "definitely surprised" at what she saw on the series, and that producers reached out to her to discuss participating. She explained that "in this process, all that matters and does matter are the children and our families, and that wasn't something that was going be in line with their goals."
Chambers stated that there were "definitely some surprises", and that it wasn't great, especially since she felt like she had done that hard work. But the moral of this story is that work never ends. Chambers also stated that her ex-husband's children have not seen the doctor -- which is not surprising considering their age -- and added, "It's inappropriate for them at the time."
She said, "I consider myself to be a feminist. I stand in solidarity with anyone who's been a victim or any kind of abuse and hope they find healing." "I don't feel like I'm here because my life has been hard for a while.
Chambers said that Hammer and she are in a "really great place", with open lines to communication and a shared commitment to their children. Chambers added that children need their dad, and their mom. We won't stop doing what we can.
She said that Hammer was "focused on his healing" but that it doesn't matter if he is "the best dad for our kids."
"Time heals, but it is not enough to heal. She said, "You need to work through them." People are flawed. People make terrible mistakes. People make worse. It has always been about 'These my boundaries. Once you are able to meet these boundaries, we can move on to the next stage. This applies to everyone in my life but also to me.
Chambers confirmed that she is now in a committed relationship with a man new to her. She also said that although her family was happy to live in the Cayman Islands, they are ready to return to L.A. and get back to their grind.
