After fainting, Erin Molan stated that it had never happened to her before.
After facing her fear of spiders, Erin Molan, an Australian radio host, passed out on-air.
Molan, 40, faced her arachnophobia head on Wednesday's episode of 2Day FM’s "Hughesy, Ed & Erin", an Australian radio station. It was during a segment about dealing with fears.
The clip below was shared to the radio show's Instagram. It shows that Linda and the presenter were both challenged to not only be in the presence but also hold the spiders in their hands.
Molan was already anxious and said, "We're about having spiders put on our bodies." Molan and the listener were then assured by the spider handler that the spiders would not hurt them and that they "breathe."
The listener was the first to rise. Despite appearing nervous, she seemed to be calm while holding the spider, an Australian feather-legged Tarantula. As Molan was about to turn, Molan began to feel anxious. Molan began to moan in distress, struggle to breathe and complained that she was having a panic attack.
Molan was ready to go, and the second handler approached her with a spider. She screamed, jumped, and cursed. As the first handler tried to calm her, she continued trying to breathe.
Molan's cohost Dave Hughes, also known by "Hughesy", told Molan as she held onto the handler's hand tightly and seemed to be struggling to stand.
"If you don’t feel comfortable, then we don’t have to do it." It's not a problem at any," Molan was assured by the handler, before Hughes asked Hughes if he wanted to stop. She replied that she wanted her co-host to continue.
The handler said that the most important thing was to feel safe and comfortable. Molan fell to the ground almost immediately after falling unconscious. It is not clear if Molan had the spider with her when she fell to the ground.
We need to take a break! Take a break! Let's break! Hughes stated that we must go to a "break" and that a producer would then direct everyone to "get out of the studio."
Molan, a person off-camera, could be heard coughing and grumbling before the video cut to "five more minutes later." Molan, who seemed to be fine, hugged the listener and praised her for confronting her fears. Molan also acknowledged that she had fainted and apologized.
Molan stated, "That's never happened before to me."
Hughes described the situation as "very stressful" in the aftermath. Hughes was assisted by an off-camera witness who shared that Molan's medical professional had been on his "first day" of work.
"Oh, sweet Jesus!" Molan laughed and joked. Talk about jumping in deep! Hughes quipped.
Molan and "Hughesy, Ed & Erin," an Instagram account, shared posts about the segment.
Molan shared a sweet picture of herself with Hughes and the spider handlers. The caption to the photo read "Alive... embarrassed... That's basically it." "video at @hughesyedanderin Thank you so much for all your well wishes."
Hughes, a comedian, joked, "Great drama. Legend effort."
Instagram was also used by the radio show to share the group photo and a Molan shot from the episode. This was the first image in the post. The caption read "BRAVE."
"Massive thanks to all for your kind words."
