Dakota Mortensen rebuts speculation that he was paid to talk with reporters about Taylor Frankie Paul’s arrest. He slams those who "twist the stories and make up assumptions".
Dakota Mortensen is the boyfriend of TikTok star Taylor Frankie Paul and is now speaking out to address criticisms he has received. He was arrested and charged for domestic violence and child abuse.
Paul, a Mormon social media influencer, was charged Tuesday with two felonies of domestic violence in a child's presence, one count of aggravated assault, and one misdemeanor charge of child abuse or criminal mischief. She was taken into custody in Utah in February.
She is accused of hitting Mortensen and throwing barstools at him, one of which allegedly hit her child.
Mortensen, who was also officially charged Tuesday by police, took to his TikTok account -- with around 330K followers -- to address some of the speculation and backlash that had come his way following Paul's arrest.
"Just a few topics I wanted to discuss because it's pissing off me so bad," he said, before adding that he has "never made any money" from his videos on social media.
"I don’t do this s--- and expect money. It would be great if I could. That's the ultimate goal. It would be incredible, and who wouldn't want it? He said that he has never earned a dime from any of it. "I enjoy it, and it's something I've done for a long time. This has been a great hobby for me and I will continue it."
After speaking with the Daily Mail last Wednesday, Mortensen stated that he has never been in such a position before. Mortensen said that the reporter randomly called him, and that he was only trying to be respectful and kind at the time.
"But I wasn’t doing anything wrong. He continued, "I would never do anything for money in a million years, especially when it comes to Taylor and her family." I wouldn't. "I know my character, and it sucks that I have to say this. But I wouldn't do that."
Mortensen called the entire situation "just sucks", before going on to praise Paul for being a mother. Taylor is the mother of daughter Indy, 5 years old, and Ocean, 2 years old. She shares her home with Tate Paul, who was reportedly at home at the time.
He said, "If there is one thing I know, it's that she's an amazing mom and she loves her children so much." You guys can all assume the worst, that's what you do. It's something I have seen and know.
"I will be there to support her. He continued, "But I'm a recovering addiction, rock bottom was where I've been many time in my life and it's something that I regret." I won't do that to her. "I will be there to support her and assist her in any way that I can."
Mortensen reaffirmed that "this entire thing sucks," before referring "everybody just twisting stories and making up assumptions." After thanking his supporters, Mortensen concluded that "this whole thing sucks," before referring to "everybody just twisting the stories and making up assumptions."
'Soft Swinger" Mormon TikToker Taylor Frankie Paul is charged with Child Abuse and Domestic Violence
According to the probable cause statement Paul started hitting Mortensen after he tried leaving during an argument. The incident is captured on video. It shows Paul hitting Mortensen with a bar stool and his daughter with the other. Page Six reports that the girl suffered a bump to her head. Authorities called it a "goose eggs" and the chairs left holes in the walls.
Taylor was allegedly caught putting Mortensen into a chokehold and then kicking him in the footage. He also claimed that she threw her phone at him and a wooden toy set at him which also damaged his car.
Paul's next court date has been set for March 21.
Taylor made headlines when she claimed that Taylor and her husband were part of a "soft-swinging" community. This meant they had open marriages but stopped short of engaging in intimate sex. However, the arrangement was canceled when Taylor claimed that she had gone too far with another person in their community... and some parties involved had "developed feelings".
She shared the following on Instagram Live last year: "We had an arrangement and I did step outside of that agreement. That's where my mistakes occurred." "No one was innocent. Everyone has been in this situation with someone else. It wasn't as if I was just going about hooking up my friend's husband."
She said, "We were at an event, I became belligerent, and we went and messed with each other rather than with the entire group." "One time. It was one-time."
According to her, the incident resulted in two divorces among their friends group, which included her own.
Paul and Mortensen, who both are active in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, made their relationship public in July. In November, they announced that she had suffered from an ectopic baby. They split in December and were spotted again in January.
They last posted together on February 12, just days prior to the arrest.
