Breaking Bad Cast Pays Tribute to Mark Margolis, Dead at 83

Bryan Cranston called Margolis a "really good actor and a wonderful human being," while Bob Odenkirk paid tribute to the late star's "powerful screen appearance."

Breaking Badstars pay tribute to actor Mark Margolis who died on Thursday, aged 83.

Margolis family announcedthat the actor died in Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City after a short illness. Other details were not released. Margolis is best known for his role as Hector "Tio", the drug lord in the AMC series Breaking Bad, and its prequel series Better Call Saul.

After the news of Margolis' passing, Margolis’ co-stars Bryan Cranston, Bob Odenkirk and Dean Norris shared touching tributes on social media.

Cranston, who worked with Margolis in the legal drama Your Honor, reacted on Instagram to Margolis’ death by sharing photos from Your Honor as well as Breaking Bad.

"I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a dear friend today. Cranston captioned his post: "Mark Margolis is a wonderful human being and an excellent actor." "Fun, engaging and charming off-set and intimidating and terrifying on set (in the cases of Breaking Bad or Your Honor). His quiet energy belied a mischievous mind and curious nature... He loved to share a joke."

He added: "I already miss him," before closing his post. "Rest, Mark, and thank you for friendship and your outstanding body of work."

Odenkirk, who appeared on screen with Margolis in both Breaking Bad as well as Better Call Saul, wrote to X (nee twitter): "A powerful screen appearance! Mark made me laugh with his jokes, comments and energy in the van as we drove to the set. I can only hope that I have half of his focus and energy when the word 'Action" is shouted. "Thank you Mark and condolences for your family."

Norris shared a message with X. He said, "I am so saddened to hear that Mark Margolis died." "A phenomenal actor. "A funny guy. RIP. I send my condolences to his family

Breaking Bad co-creator and Better Call Saulwriter Peter Gould also wrote that he is "absolutely distraught" by the news. In an X message, he wrote: "Mark was funny, brilliant and a raconteur who had a million tales." "I already miss him."

The official Breaking BadX account released a statement about Margolis' death: "We mourn with millions of fans the loss of Mark Margolis who, using his eyes, a ringing bell and very few words, turned Hector Salamanca in to one of the most memorable characters in television history. He will be greatly missed."
