This was the first nomination for and win for the actor who started his career in the '90s.

Brendan Fraser is now an Oscar nominee!

The Academy Award for Best Actor In a Leading Role was won by the actor for his performance in "The Whale." This was his first nomination and win in his professional career.

Fraser was awarded the award ahead of Austin Butler ("Elvis") and Colin Farrell ("The Banshees of Inisherin") as well as Paul Mescal ("Aftersun"), Bill Nighy ("Living"), and Paul Mescal ("Aftersun").

"So, this is how the multiverse looks!" Before he thanked director Darren Aronofsky and screenwriter Samuel D. Hunter, he exclaimed before expressing gratitude to his fellow nominees.

He said that only whales could swim at the depth of Hong Chau's talent. "I started in this business 30+ years ago and things didn't come easy to me," he added, before thanking his family and cast for their support.

The 2023 awards season was dominated by Fraser, who won the Screen Actors Guild Award in Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor In a Leading Role and the Critics Choice Award in Best Actor for "The Whale." He was also nominated for Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards and other awards.

The film role was a pivotal moment in Fraser's renaissance. After an incident with the former president of the Golden Globes, Fraser, who was a well-known actor on the big screen, the actor decided to quit acting. (He denies the allegation).
