Her brother, uncle, brother-in law, and close family friends were among the men who walked her to the altar. A school resource officer also inspired Jurgensen, who was suffering from alleged domestic abuse at the time, to open up and trust law enforcement.

Jurgensen said, "I began to trust my school resources officer. She says it was not something she expected. You are not alone, and you deserve to be heard. "Saving yourself could save other victims unknown."

Jurgensen plans to publish a book on her journey, how she learned to listen to herself and to help others with the same assistance she received.

She concluded, "Trauma doesn't define you. You can still overcome it. Use your trauma to help others escape their trauma and be free of their trauma so they can move on." "My trauma doesn't define me. "It shaped me."
