Bridget Moynahan comments on Tom Brady's retirement

Legendary quarterback, Tom Brady, confirmed rumors that he would retire from the game.

Bridget Moynahan shared some positive words with ex-Tom Brady following his announcement of his retirement from the NFL.

The "Blue Bloods" actress offered her support and words of encouragement to the 44-year old quarterback when he announced his retirement Tuesday, February 1st.

"So proud to be @TomBrady. Twitter user @TomBrady wrote, "Today and today were great. I know you will do great work tomorrow." "Looking forward for the next steps."

After almost three years of being together, Brady and Moynahan parted ways in 2006. The actress found out that she was pregnant with her baby shortly after their split. Brady was still in the beginning stages of his relationship to Gisele Bundchen at the time.

Moynahan and John were married in 2007. Gisele described John as her "bonus" child and a "huge blessing" in her life.

In a long statement, the Tampa Bay Buccaneer confirmed that rumors had been true. It was posted to Instagram along with a series of images including one shot of him in his uniform.

Brady started his post by saying, "I have always believed that football is an all-in proposition. If you don't give 100%, you won't succeed. And success is what I love about our game." Every day presents a new challenge that allows me to reach my full potential. These 22 years have been a challenge, and I have done my best. There are no shortcuts in the field of life or in life.

He continued, "This is hard to write, but here's the deal." "I'm not going to make that competitive engagement anymore. I loved my NFL career and it is time for me to put my energy and time into other important things.

"I have done a lot more reflection over the past week and asked myself tough questions. We have done so much. He said that his teammates, coaches, competitors and fans deserve 100% of him. "But for now, I feel it is best to leave the field of play to the next generation dedicated and committed athletes."

Brady also took time to thank all his supporters, family and friends, as well as the countless others who helped him on his NFL journey.

His post concluded with the following: "My playing career was such a thrilling journey, far beyond my imagination and full of ups, downs, and many, many, many, many, many, many." You don't have to think about the end when you are in it every day. Now, however, as I sit here, I think back to all the great coaches and players I had the privilege of playing with. The competition was intense and deep, just like we like it. The friendships and relationships are equally as intense and deep. These memories will be cherished and treasured by me. I'll also remember them and return to them often. I feel like the luckiest person on the planet.
