After being hospitalized, the pop star's father is now recovering at an outpatient facility for infectious diseases.

Britney Spears estranged dad, Jamie Spears was hospitalized with a severe infection.

According to People and Page Six, the pop singer's father was sick with an infection caused by bacteria. He required surgery.

Page Six reported on Jamie's hospitalization for the first time Thursday. A source said that Jamie had a severe infection which required surgery. "He's been in an infectious disease hospital for weeks."

A second source confirmed to the outlet that he is "severely sick."

Jamie, who was diagnosed with infectious disease in an outpatient facility, is recovering at the People.

The 71-year old has had health problems over the years, and has been in hospital several times. TMZ reported in late August that Jamie had been hospitalized a few months earlier after doctors believed he was suffering from a kidney problem. They discovered that the problem was caused by an infection from a 16-year-old knee replacement.

The outlet reported that Jamie had undergone another surgery and noted that he lost more than 25 pounds because of his health problems.

Britney's 13 year conservatorship ended in November 2021. This was two months after Jamie had been suspended as Britney’s conservator. Since then, the two have been estranged.

Britney, 41, has publicly slammed her father on several occasions since the end of the conservatorship. However in August sources told TMZ that she was contemplating reconciling with him in light of her separation from Sam Asghari as well as Jamie's health problems.
