According to the actor, his daughter is called "Twilight Girl" in school. He also shares what he finds "distracting" about being a star opposite Christina Aguilera.
Cam Gigandet looks back at some of his most memorable roles, after movies like "Twilight", "Burlesque", and other films have re-entered chat in a big way.
TooFab interviewed the 40-year old "Twilight” alum about the franchise's recent revival on social media apps such as Twitter and TikTok. He also explained why he thinks many may need to revisit the romance between vampires and werewolves now more than ever.
"The whole idea was 'in" at a time when there was less s--- around the world," Gigandet, who was the villain James in the first film, explained. "Vampires were our greatest problem, as opposed to all the s--- we've created. It was simpler times, so it is understandable that people would like to [experience] the nostalgia from 'Twilight" and why they would wish to go back.
The "Violent night" star laughed when asked about the impact of the film on his career. He replied "I mean, my girl is called "Twilight" at school."
His previous film, "Burlesque," also had a moment after it was added to Netflix. Christina Aguilera, the star of Burlesque, noticed that it was sparking discussion again on Twitter and tweeted, "Oh OK! You can stream Burlesque on @netflix.
Fans may be rewatching the movie as they Netflix and chill. However, Gigandet stated that he hasn’t seen the film since the Chinese Theater premiere in 2010. He said, "It's hard, because every single time I'm like, ‘Oh, my children would like this movie.’ They get a little strange."
He played the role of Ali's love interest in the movie. This was a new role for Gigandet who is used to being cast in action and thriller films.
He confessed that he loves the chance to do something different. It's likely closer to my disposition than what I might even admit or acknowledge. It's probably closer to who I am than it seems.
Although "Burlesque" was an opportunity to do something new, Gigandet described his time at the film's 2010 set as "good but difficult."
He said, "Obviously working with Christina was incredible, but just having the publicity of Christina Aguilera was a little distracting."
He said that Gigandet would do anything to get more romance if he could go back.
"I had a great time, but in hindsight, I think we should have done things differently. He shook his head. "I wish we had spoken up for our storyline a bit more, but it is what is," he said. "You learn and live."
"Righteous Thieves," the latest Gigandet film, is now available in select theaters and online.
