Kramer, who was on the red carpet, admitted that she is still shaken by the tragedy after finding out her children were only 15 minutes from the scene of the shooting.
After Monday's tragic shooting that left six people dead in Nashville, Tennessee, including three children, the stars at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards paid tribute to the victims.
Lenny Kravitz, the host, opened the ceremony and paid tribute to the victims' families.
The "American Woman" singer said, "I want to take some time to send some healing love to those families and innocent people who lost their lives at Covenant school today and the entire Nashville community." "Our hearts are heavy, and we are here for you. Nashville, we love and support you. America, we can do better.
Jana Kramer, who was shaking by the horrific events of earlier that day on the red carpet, told Fox News Digital that it hit her a little too close. According to Jana Kramer, her children Jolie, 7 and Jace, 4, go to school just 15 minutes from the scene of the shooting.
"My brain isn't even capable of computing words right now, because everyone's like, "How are you?" "What are you wearing?" I was like, "I don't care what I'm wearing." Kramer admitted that she cares about her children and wants to be home with them if she's being completely honest.
Although her children, whom she shares with Mike Caussin, are fine, the "Voices” singer admitted that it is not true for everyone. "It's awful, it's terrible. My children are fine. But there are other kids who are not. That's unacceptable. Something must change. It's heartbreaking. She said that this is where her brain is right now.
"We have friends who go there and their kids that go there. Nashville is a close-knit community. Kramer said that we know many people who were there so it's just...still not a shake." "Something must happen. We need more prayers than we can offer.
Country singer Cole Swindell also lives in Nashville and shared words of support with his community as he accepted the Country Song of the Year award for "She Had Me At Heads Carolina".
He said, "Before i say anything else,... I just wanna send our community in Nashville (Tennessee) that's hurting beyond belief at the moment, my prayers, and lots of love back." "So, I just wanted that to be said."
