In a video, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome
Celine Dion claims she was diagnosed as having Stiff Person Syndrome.
The singer announced the news on Thursday via an Instagram video.
The 54-year old said that he was recently diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological condition that affects about one in a million people. While we are still studying this rare condition, we now know it is the cause of all my spasms.
Dion said that these spasms "unfortunately" affect all aspects of my daily living. "It sometimes causes me difficulties walking and doesn't allow me to use my vocal chords in the way that I used to sing."
According to the Stiff Person Syndrome Foundation, the condition causes damage to the central nervous system. Many people who are affected by it can become disabled, bed-ridden or wheelchair bound.
Dion is the mother of Rene-Charles (21 years old) and Nelson and Eddy (1 year and 11 months). She praised them for their support and gave her hope.
All current performances have been cancelled or pushed back.
