Cheryl Burke Says She & Ex-Husband Matthew Lawrence May Go to Court Over Custody of Their Dog

"I am still very hurt by this whole thing. That's my dog, you know. Ysabella, my daughter.

Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence, her ex-husband, recently settled their divorce. However, it seems that the legal battle is not over yet.

During a recent episode on her podcast "Burke in the Game", the professional dancer said that she and her ex might be going to court in 2023 in order to seek custody of their French Bulldog, Ysabella.

Burke, 38, stated that unless he suddenly calls it off, we will go to trial. The whole thing still hurts me. That's my dog, you know. Ysabella, my daughter.

"I'm a dog mother. She explained that this was all she knew. "I can't even imagine my life. I don't know, I could cry right now, but I can't even imagine my life without her."

TooFab reached out to Lawrence's representative for comment. He has not yet made public statements about the divorce.

The "Dancing with the Stars” pro and the "Boy Meets World” alum first met in 2006, when Joey Lawrence's brother competed in Season 3. Burke was a "DWTS pro" at the time. They began their relationship in 2007. They dated for one year, before they split up and then rekindled their love in 2017.

After being engaged for a year, Burke and Lawrence (42 years) tied the knot in May 2019. They were set to celebrate their third anniversary, before Burke filed for divorce.

According to TMZ the "Dance Moms'" alum listed January 7 as her date of separation and cited irreconcilable disagreements as the reason.

Burke addressed their fans via Instagram after news broke of their separation.

She began her statement by saying, "I know that I have always stated I am an open book with you guys. I do try to be. But writing this, I realized there is no easy way to tell you that my marriage is over."

She added, "I hope that you understand that I won't be commenting further at the moment and am asking for privacy and understanding." "I want to thank you all for your kind words and support.

According to E!, Burke and Lawrence negotiated their divorce last month. News.
