Christina Ricci has recently spoken out about her 2020 divorce from James Heerdegen. She also revealed how she paid for the expensive divorce. Ricci also offered encouragement to women in bad relationships.

Ricci and James Heerdegen's relationship

Ricci met Heerdegen in 2012 while both were working on the series Pan Amin 2012. Heerdegen and Ricci were working on Pan Am in 2012. They married the next year, and had a son in 2014.

In 2020, the actress filed for divorce claiming that she had been subject to "severe emotional and physical abuse" and that many of these abuse episodes occurred in front of her son.

During one of the altercations, the Los Angeles Police Department was called. Heerdegen was not arrested but Ricci was issued an emergency protective order. Ricci filed for divorce the day before.

She was granted primary custody of their son and a domestic violence order against Heerdegen in 2021.

She was 'Absolutely Fine" with Selling Her Chanel

These court battles were expensive. Ricci revealed recently that she had paid for her divorce and legal fees by selling her Chanel collection.

The actress revealed that she had once owned a Chanel handbag collection, but that she sold them off during court battles.

Ricci shared her story to encourage women in similar situations.

The actress said, "I tell my story because it is true that I have been in similar situations."

Ricci said, "I think it's important that we have an example for other women - that as scary as it may be, changing your life is possible and saving yourself is the only option."

Actress today is "finding her own self-worth, position, strength and power."

Ricci married Mark Hampton, a hairstylist, in 2021. They had a daughter the same year. Anyone looking to get out of a bad relationship can find inspiration in the story of Ricci.
