Director Tamra Davis reveals that Britney Spears rereleased the film 20 years after it first came out, despite her abortion and her struggle to make 'Crossroads.'

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Davis revealed her hope of reuniting the popstar. She also revealed that Spears was the one who advocated the re-release of the film in theaters.

Crossroads was never released on Bluray or streaming. However, it will be re-released in movie theaters on October 23-25 as part of an event that runs between the release date of Spears memoir.

Davis revealed that Britney called and asked to have the film rereleased. I've tried to do this for years. I called lawyers, people I knew... and then I received a phone call from Sony. Hey, can you oversee the color correction for the film that we need? They said that Britney was the one who called Paramount and transferred the film to Sony.

She said, "I know that she knows I'm here for her and I'll do whatever I can for her. But I also respect her privacy as well as what she wants to be doing right now. At least I now know she is in control and that she is listening. "Of course, I would love to say hello, but she already knows that I am there for her."

Spears writes that the experience of making the movie was not easy. She says that she got too caught up in her character, and that it affected her mental health.

Davis responded to Spears' disclosures by saying that you never know what is going on in someone's mind during an experience. She added that Spears was not aware of her struggles when she made the revelations. "I read this today and was like, ‘Well, it was an interesting journey to get her do this, act, and be this character'. I had to break Britney down to make her Lucy, the character.

She continued, "She really had to dig deep to find this character. You never know. She was part a group and an ensemble, where everyone is equal in a film and not just the stars. On set, we're both the same. I'm exactly the same as my sound guy. We're part of the same crew.

Another bombshell in the much-anticipated book? While making the movie, Spears had an abortion on the insistance of her boyfriend, Justin Timberlake.
