Dixie D'Amelio Talks Living With PMDD, Impact on Relationship With Charli (Exclusive)

Dixie explained that she didn't think about whether or not to share the experience. It was such a huge answer to many confusing aspects of her life, I just felt, "Of course, I'll speak about it," Dixie said.

Dixie D'Amelio doesn't hesitate to share the more difficult moments in her life.

Dixie D'Amelio, speaking to TooFab before the premiere of season 3 of her family's Hulu Reality TV show The D'Amelioshow revealed that she wanted viewers to see her struggle with PMDD, no matter how difficult it was to watch.

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is a condition that can cause severe irritability or depression or anxiety a week or two prior to your period.

"My symptoms change every time. I just try to get through this time period," Dixie said of the disorder that affects up to 5 percent of women who are of childbearing years. "I didn't think about whether I would share it, but it was such a huge answer to so many confusing aspects of my life, that I just felt, 'Of Course I'll Talk About It'."

Dixie has learned to cope with the disorder, which has affected her relationships with family members, including her sister Charli D’Amelio.

The TikTok stars were often seen in tears and at odds with each other during season three. Sisterly disputes turned into explosive blowups. The sisters said that while it almost tore them apart they have found resolution, in part because Charli has gained a better understanding of her sister’s illness.

Charli, a 19-year-old woman, said: "It's an interesting perspective you don't hear often from someone who has a family member with PMDD." Hearing how it impacts the person with it and how it effects everyone around them is important.

She went on to say, "As this is a brand new diagnosis for her as it is for us. We are learning how to handle situations like this when we're dealing with such a sensitive topic."

Charli's rocky relationship made her question whether she wanted to move in with the couple into their new home.

The youngest member of the D'Amelio family, Dixie, said that she and her three dogs, Rebel, Codi, and Cali, are happier today than ever before in their new house.

Charli was giddy. "Right away, we are living in a home with our three dogs and things are going really well."

Communication was key to getting the sisters on track. Dixie told TooFab that Dixie's diagnosis forced them to have the "tough conversations" that they needed to progress.

Dixie, a 22-year-old woman, said, "I think we just need to work on communicating and realize that, at the end, we'll always have each others back." "I knew things had been a bit disconnected, and that we both needed to be mature in order to have those tough conversations."

The pair have received positive feedback from their vulnerability, whether they were discussing their own struggles, family issues or their relationships. This is especially true when it comes to mental health.

Dixie said, "I've received a lot of positive feedback. Especially seeing people in the street. If they watch the show, one of the things they'll say is 'Thanks for talking about it.' So that feels great."

The D'Amelio Show Season 3 premiered on September 20. New episodes will be released every Wednesday.
