"Oh Hugh, bert, Hubert! That's for me!" Barrymore screams in the epic video that follows Grant's call for her to be a "horrendous singer".
Drew Barrymore was alerted to Hugh Grant’s criticism of her natural singing voice preautotune, and has created the perfect response.
Thursday's "The Drew Barrymore show" host, took to her Instagram (and her show page) to share her experience with her "Music and Lyrics” co-star.
Barrymore smiled and began to belt out lines from "Way Back Into Love" after which he said, "Oh Hugh... bert Hubert!
Grant's Wired Autocomplete Interview was posted earlier in the week. In response to a question asking if he sings in the 2007 rom-com Music and Lyrics, the British actor roasts his costar.
Grant replied, "Yes, I do," Grant added in response. He could have stopped there, but didn't.
He said, "Actually that's false, I'm not auto-tuned as much as some," before dropping his costar in the conversation. "Drew Barrymore was there with me in that movie and I don’t think she’d mind me telling her how horrible her singing is."
Grant stated, "I've heard dogs bark more than they sing," without prompting.
Grant said, "But having said this, she sounded way more than me once they tuned her up because she's got heart, voice and rock ’n' rolling whereas I sounded just like Julie Andrews. I was meant to be rock ‘n' roll."
