Elliot Page, star of "The Umbrella Academy," says he doesn't feel safe in Los Angeles anymore after a man allegedly threatened him and shouted "This is why i need a weapon!" after he asked for help.
Elliot Page has opened up to the Los Angeles Times about an incident that left him feeling frightened and unsafe in a new way. In a recent interview with Los Angeles Times, the actor spoke out about the frightening incident.
Page was walking outside his hotel to a convenience store when the altercation occurred. It happened about a month ago. Page claims that a man shouted at him: "I am going to f---ing homosexual bash you! F ----t!"
He was fortunate to be near the store and was able dart in to relative safety with other people nearby. The man didn't stop there, yelling after him "This is why i need a firearm!"
Page stated that he no longer feels safe. Page said, "I don't feel as safe going for walks in Los Angeles now that I used to."
The actor acknowledged that he was well aware of the fact that he has a privilege that many gays and transgenders do not. He was specifically referring to his financial capability to hire private security or stay in a high-end hotel room that is more secure.

He said, "That doesn't mean that it isn't traumatic." "But, I have resources to protect me and shield me in any situation that is difficult."
The actor revealed the news as he was releasing his autobiography, "Pageboy." Page revealed to the Times that he had been estranged from his parents after coming out gay and then transgender. He was able, however, to reconcile himself with his mother.
In an excerpt of the book that was shared with People, he shared another aggressively unpleasant incident with a non-named A list actor just a few months after his first coming out as gay.
Page wrote, in a book titled "Famous A---hole At Party", that an A list actor, whom he called "an acquaintance," told him: "You're not gay. This doesn't even exist. "You are afraid of men."
The acquaintance of the "Umbrella Academy's" star said, "I am going to f----you to make you realise you are not gay."
Page wrote that he met the actor, who was not named, a few days later. The man had told him: "I swear I don't mind gay people." Page reported that he responded, "I believe you might."
Pageboy is now available.
