Emily Blunt explains the story behind Tom Cruise's unique advice to her while filming "Edge of Tomorrow", a 2014 action movie.

The actress spoke out on "Smartless," recalling the difficulties she faced during filming, and what Cruise said to help her.

"'Come on, stop being such a p---y, OK?'" Blunt stated Cruise said it to her. Blunt added, "And then we got through it."

Blunt made a statement to People on Monday after Cruise's comment raised eyebrows.

The "Devil Wears Prada" star stated that many people took Cruise's comment "literally, absurdly outof context."

Blunt had nothing but positive things to say about her former costar. People reported that she adored Tom and considered him a close friend. It was meant to be a joke and make me laugh.

It's absurd that it's being spun to be something that offended my feelings. She added that it didn't. "I shared the story with Tom as lightheartedly and as humorously as he intended. It's still something that we laugh about to this very day."

Blunt mentioned Cruise's comment on Monday's episode. He also shared how difficult it was to wear metal suits in the film's production.

Blunt said that the suits were too big and uncomfortable.

It weighed in at 85 pounds. She continued, "It was so heavy." "The first time it was on, I started to cry. I started to cry in front Tom and he didn’t know what to do."

"I was like Tom, I don't know how I'm going through this shoot," and then I started to cry. I was like, "I feel a bit panicky about this whole shoot,"" Mary Poppins Returns star added before sharing Cruise's advice.

"He literally went -- he stared at me long and hard, not knowing what to do. And then he said, "Come on, quit being such a p---y. OK?" She said.

Blunt shared, "And I did laugh. And then we got through that." The training was hard. We trained twice daily for it.
