Danelo Cavalcante, who escaped from a Pennsylvania jail 13 days ago and is now armed, has been at large for the past 13 days.

Police say that the convicted killer who escaped from a Pennsylvania prison two weeks ago and is on the run now is "armed and dangerous."

Danelo Cavalcante has terrorized Chester County since his daring escape. A homeowner in South Coventry Township is reported to have fired at him on Monday night, roughly 20 miles away from the prison where he escaped 13 days earlier.

According to Pennsylvania State Police Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens, Cavalcante managed to escape the house, seemingly uninjured. He also stole a rifle out of the garage.

The killer is still at large, and the second week has passed. Law enforcement officials say that the need to capture Cavalcante is urgent as he now has a firearm.

Authorities have warned residents of the surrounding area to call 911 immediately if they see the killer.

The state police have confirmed that the rifle Cavalcante stole is a 22-caliber and instructed residents to "lock windows and doors, secure cars, and stay indoors."

In response, the local school district in southeast Pennsylvania cancelled all classes.

According to Fox News, the superintendent of the Owen J. Roberts school district in Pottstown stated, "As the result of increased police activities in our community in relation to the pursuit an escaped Chester County Prison inmate, and after consulting with state and local laws enforcement, we made the decision today to close all our schools and offices."

This summer, the killer was found guilty of murdering his former girlfriend in 2021. The 33-year old stabbed Deborah Brandao a total of 38 times, according to the prosecutors. He allegedly murdered her in front her two children after she discovered he was wanted in Brazil for another murder.
