Tina Turner is an entertainment industry legend. The Queen of Rock 'n Roll is a rare musical artist who has the incredible staying power. Tina Turner is an eight-time Grammy winner.
She survived an allegedly abusive marriage, racism, career highs, lows, cancer, and a stroke. Tina was unstoppable through it all. Although her alleged turbulent relationship with Ike is well-documented, her role as mother is not. Here are some details about her children and how they are doing.
Tina Turner has four children with two men
Tina's firstborn son, Craig Raymond was the son of Raymond Hill (a saxophonist with Ike Turner's band Kings of Rhythm). Two of Ike Turner’s sons, Ike Jr. & Michael, she adopted. She shares her youngest son Ronald Renelle with Ike.
Craig Takes His Own Life in 2018
Tina was just 18 when Craig was born on August 20, 1958. Tina was only 18 when Craig died from a self-inflicted gunshot injury at the age of just 59. It was a devastating blow. She claimed she didn't know he was troubled. BBC News reported, in fact, that Tina claimed Craig was seeing a woman he was attracted to and wanted to introduce Tina to her.
Tina stated that she still doesn't understand what drove him to the edge. He had told me at that point that he had never met a woman he felt this way about.
Craig, a realtor, had been profoundly affected by Ike's alleged abuse towards Tina. Oprah Winfrey told her in 2005 that Craig was a "very emotional child" and that he realized the marital problems his mother and Ike were having. He also seemed concerned for Tina's well-being at least once. Tina claims that Craig asked Tina if she was okay after an intense fight between them.
Craig's ashes were scattered off the California coast by her, and she described it as her "sadest moment as mother."
Ike Jr. He followed his parents into the music industry
Ike Jr. was born October 3, 1958. Ike Jr. was born October 3, 1958. He was a sound engineer at Bolic Sound. He won a Grammy for his album Risin’ with the Blues.
CelebrityMirror says that Ike Jr. had a rough childhood. When he was 13, his father removed him from school and he worked in Ike Sr.’s recording studio. Ike Jr. and Randi Love, an ex-Ikette from The Ike Turner Revue, formed The Love Thang. The Love Thang released a single in 2017 titled "Freaky!"
According to Ike Jr., his father pistol-whipped Ike Jr. for helping his mother after their divorce. Ike Jr. claimed that Tina and Ike Sr. were often on the road with him and the other Turner children.
Ike Jr. stated that "we were raised by housekeepers since my mother and dad were away 11 months out of the year."
He spoke out about his relationship to his mother in August 2018. Tina raised me since I was two years old. She is the only mother I have ever known. My mother hasn't spoken to me since 2000, but I don't think so. "I don't believe any of my brothers has spoken to her in a very long time."
Ike Jr. and Ike Senior apparently made amends prior to Ike Sr.’s 2007 death. This was attributed in part to a cocaine overdose.
Michael Prefers To Stay Out of The Limelight
Michael was born February 23, 1960. Very little information is available about him. According to Ike Jr., Michael was at a California rehabilitation home in 2018. Tina doesn't visit Michael, he said.
Ronald Renelle, aka 'Ronnie, shares his parents' musical talents.
Ronnie was born on October 27, 1960. He has been married since 2007 to Afida, a French-American singer. They have two children.
He was a member of both his parents' bands, and he also played bass in Manufactured Funk. In the documentary about his mother's life, "What's Love Got To Do With It?" he was also a member The Revue. (1993).
An archived version from a July 1989 article in TV Week shows that Tina challenged Ike Sr.'s claims that she was ineffective in parenting her children, especially Ronnie. She countered, "He gave me these children and not one penny to care for them with." "I was left trying my best to care for his children and mine."
Tina spoke out about Ronnie's childhood, saying that he received a great education at private schools and was well-adjusted for clothes and allowances. Tina said that Ronnie was determined to become self-destructive, and she offered to help him financially if he needed it. However, Tina stated, "I'm no banker for a man nearly 30 years old."
Tina Turner is estranged from her children?
Tina was married to Erwin Bach in 2013. She now lives in Switzerland. Tina claimed that she has mostly walked away from her children since her remarriage to Ike Jr. in 2018. He said that his mother was living her life now that she has a new husband, and she is in Europe. "She doesn’t want anything to do the past."
He said that his brothers get money from a trust account.
Tina admitted in her autobiography Tina: My Story (1986) that she is "a bit estranged from all her sons, with the exception Craig. She told TV Week three years later that she had "supported Ronnie well into her 20s, but they all got cut off recently." "I'm still there for Ronnie, but I won't let them use me."
Tina Turner's remarkable life story is inspiring. She's been down and up again and has reached the pinnacle.
Relationships with her sons have been difficult and are currently quite distant. It seems that the connection she still has with her sons is tenuous. Turner seems to have a clear line in her mind about how far she will go for them, both financially and emotionally. Her life seems to revolve around her husband and the lives they have created together.
