Felicity Huffman Hits First Red Carpet Since Prison Time for Admissions Scandal

Huffman was sent to the meeting with the founder of an organization that she had started working with as part of her sentencing.

Felicity Huffman, who was released from prison in 2003 for her role in the college admissions scandal has returned to the red carpet just three years later.

After serving only 11 days in prison, the actress attended her first Hollywood event. The actress was photographed alongside her husband William H. Macy, and Susan Burton at the L'Oreal Paris Women Of Worth Celebration at The Ebell Club of Los Angeles. Susan Burton was one of the women honored by the beauty brand as a Woman of Worth.

According to a press release, the event honored those who "support a wide range of causes and beautifully embody L'Oreal's iconic tagline, "Because you're worth it." L'Oreal claims that the women honored will receive $20,000 in funding, mentorship and support from the L'Oreal Paris community, to help them build their organizations, as well as the brand's national platform to tell their stories.

Burton is the founder of A New Way of Life Reentry Project. This project "promotes healing and power for former prisoners by using a multifaceted approach in mitigating and eventually eliminating mass incarceration."

Huffman was charged with participating in a scheme to cheat the SATs. She paid $15,000 for a service that would boost her daughter's test scores. Huffman pleaded guilty to conspiracy and mail fraud. This led to a two week sentence in prison. Huffman was sentenced to 11 days imprisonment in October 2019. She then began one year of supervised release with 250 hours community service.

PEOPLE reports that A New Way of Life was one of the charities she worked with in her community service.

Burton said that Felicity was a genuine, down-to-earth caring person. She's also been very supportive of the women at the center. "She has a genuine connection with them and it is evident. They know that she has experienced in a small manner what they went through while incarcerated.

Burton said that she has been cooking for the women and cleaning up after them.

Since her time in prison, Huffman has kept a low profile. Although she was assigned to a pilot TV series in 2020, there have been no updates.
