In late July, Jeopardy! Executives announced that Ken Jennings would take over the running of the regular program while Mayim Bialik will host the specialty competitions such as Jeopardy! We saw Sunday that Celebrity Jeopardy! was added to the National College Championship. Bialik's appearance on the daily program caused quite a stir. Did her worst critics tune in to her new hosting gig? Let's look at the ratings.

Boycott of 'Jeopardy!'Fandoms

Social media was in turmoil back in July. Jeopardy! Some fans protested after producers said they would keep Ken Jennings as host and Mayim Bialik as co-hosts. Many who supported Jennings voiced dissatisfaction at the decision and pledged to boycott the show until Bialik is completely removed.

Many Twitter users claimed that they would not watch Jeopardy if Jennings was the sole host. warned that viewership was on the verge of plummeting. There were also supporters of Bialik. Many believed she was the better host overall, and the announcement of the show was a testimony to this.

Jennings hosted the Jeopardy! Jennings hosted the usual Jeopardy! competitions, and things have remained quiet since then. After two months, Bialik was back to host the first ever primetime Celebrity Jeopardy!.

Celebrity Jeopardy! Makes a Big Splash

Bialik began the first ever primetime Celebrity Jeopardy! on September 25th. It introduced the "Triple Jeopardy!" round to make the show more suitable for the hour-long time slot. However, the format was unchanged. In a neck-and–neck contest that was much more hair-raising than necessary, comedian Andy Richter, SNLstar Ego Nawodim, as well as Marvel standout Simu Lu, competed for large cash prizes.

The stars were aligned for this show and it left a positive impression on viewers. With 4.03 million viewers, the show came in second in ABC's nonsports programs. The boycott threats didn't seem real or there weren’t enough people to dampen the ratings. It doesn't matter what the reason, Bialik seems to be in her element at the specialty competition show.

A better indicator is success weeks, but Celebrity Wheel of Fortune currently leads the pack as ABC’s most-watched nonsports program. Celebrity Jeopardy is certainly within reach of the program's 4.302million viewers. It seems like another battle is underway between America's most beloved competition shows as fans witness these celebrities compete for charity.
