Although we don't use our ovens as often to make delicious baked goods and elaborate meals now, they are still being used. Even if you're making a frozen pizza, cookies or naan, it doesn't matter.

Everybody is doing their best to get through these difficult times. We should be aware of the common errors that can lead to large appliances breaking. Who wants to spend a lot of money to replace or fix something that can be used for many years?

1. It's easy to forget to clean your range filters

It is possible that it is time to clean your filters. These tiny machines trap smoke, grease, and other odors from your cooking.

For cleaning, boil the water in a saucepan for ten minutes. Let the filters soak in half a cup of baking soda and some dish detergent. Once the filters have cooled, scrub any stuck-on material with a non-abrasive toothbrush. Your kitchen will smell great and prevent any potential fires by keeping your filters clean.

2. Neglecting the Bottom Of The Oven

Covering the bottom of an oven can prevent airflow and block proper cooking. You can either catch the drips of food with aluminum foil or let them build up over time. This could lead to major damage to your oven. A complete blockage of air can cause the heating element to fail, which could lead to the oven breaking.

Regular cleaning of the oven's bottom can reduce the amount of food that is left in the oven. You can prevent the mess by placing a baking sheet underneath casseroles or pies and using a roasting bag to hold meats and vegetables.

3. Oven overload

Most of us have probably overloaded the oven at one time or another. This is especially true during holidays. It can block hot air circulation by putting too much in the oven at once. This can reduce the oven's performance and pose a risk of catching fire.

It is advisable to spread out the cooking times. Keep food warm by placing it in a warming drawer, or covering it with aluminum foil.

4. Do Not Disconnect the Oven

To prevent electrocution and short circuits in your oven, unplug it when cleaning it. It is important to clean the oven regularly. Make sure you unplug the oven and turn off its breaker. To learn how to clean your oven, consult your manual. It's better to use non-abrasive cleaners for your oven. (Hint, gas and electric ovens have different cleaning recommendations.

5. Recalibrate and Replace

It is important that your oven runs at its best. If the oven's temperature is not correct, the oven might need to be re-calibrated.

Repair any burners that are damaged, or have obvious defects. They could burn out, spark or short out. You should also check the gasket, which is the rubber tube that surrounds the oven door. It should be replaced if it is damaged or has holes. It is best to be safe, and to make all necessary repairs before the problem becomes serious.
