Mascolo said that it was very awkward, despite having split with Thorne, his ex-fiancee, in June

The romantic drama "Game of Love" features Benjamin Mascolo and Bella Thorne. Despite their split, Mascolo has nothing but positive things to say for Thorne. The actor and singer from Italy praised his star for her talent and professionalism, as well as for helping him to improve his craft.

In "Game of Love," a sequel 2021's film "Time Is Up," Roy Mascolo and Vivien Thorne continue their love story as they visit Roy's childhood home, Sicily. Their romance is put to the test when Vivien meets a woman who arrives. Vertical Entertainment says that tensions build up and lines are crossed when Roy's secrets force Roy and Vivien to confront aspects of their past that they didn't know about.

Mascolo, 29 years old, spoke to TooFab about filming the sequel. He also shared his experiences filming intimate scenes alongside Thorne. He also talked about what he learned from Thorne about acting and how the process of working on "Game of Love," his first film, was different.

Mascolo and Thorne (25-year-olds) ended their engagement in June, after more than three years of being together. It is not known if they shot "Game of Love" before their split. Mascolo stated that he is open to a third movie and hopes Roy and Vivien are the "best versions of themselves."

The singer also talked about filming in Sicily, the epic masquerade scene, and other topics.

First of all, the surprise of "Game of Love", was for the fans. What made you decide to make another?

It was also a surprise to me. It was a surprise for me, but I am grateful that we were able to film a second movie. It was a great experience to have shot one movie. The fans loved it so much that they offered us another. We just took it.

How was it to reunite with Bella Thorne in this film? Did you learn anything from working with her?

She is an incredible actress. It was an amazing opportunity to work with her. It was amazing to see her on the set and to see how she handles things. I learned a lot about acting from her. Although there are still many experiences to be had, she was a great help.

What lessons has she given you about acting?

It was funny, and it was one of her first words. Funny because that was the first scene in my first movie. Because I wasn't breathing, she told me to "just breathe". Literally, I was so anxious, so tensed up. She just taught me how to be more natural and be present in the moment. That is what I needed.

Your acting debut was .

It wasn't easy, but it was definitely easier. I felt like I tried my hardest for the first movie, and you can either be happy or sad with the outcome. But I was happy because I really did try my best. I also did all my acting lessons. I did all my preparations, athletic preparations, everything. I tried my best. I wanted to do better for the second movie. It wasn't easy because I wanted to improve my craft and learn. It was definitely challenging, and it was all different.

Bella and you share intimate moments in "Game of Love". Did those scenes go more smoothly because of your chemistry? Did you ever feel nervous about acting in front of a group?

It's funny because people assume you know. It's awkward to have 10 people filming in the same room, with audio and cameras everywhere. You have to be intimate. It's not going to be comfortable for everyone because you have [these] eyes looking at you and it's very intimate. But it's part the job so it gets done. It was probably easier with Bella than it was with anyone else.

Roy and Vivien make a reconciliation at the end, but it's not clear what happens next. Is there any plans for a third film or do you have an idea?

We don't currently have plans for a third movie, but I am open to the idea 100%. This project was a great experience. Number one and two were great fun, and the fans loved it. I think they will love number two. While I do not know the future, I am open to the possibility of adding another number. Absolutely, I'm here.

What do you think will happen to Roy and Vivien in the future? Or, what do you think Roy and Vivien should do?

That's something I cannot say. It feels like God has a plan. Although I do not know what God has in store for Roy and Vivien I feel that I can say. I don't know. I really want them to be the best versions of themselves. This doesn't necessarily mean the happiest. People, as you know, have to make sacrifices. They go through difficult times. But those moments can make you stronger and make you a better person. Roy and Vivien should find their best expression.

The film has beautiful locations. Did you grow up in Italy? Did you have any experience as a tour guide? Do you have a favorite spot in the area?

I am a musician, so I have toured Italy quite a bit. Although I'd been to Sicily before, I hadn't been to the exact area where the movie was shot. It is located near Noto and it was stunning. It was amazing. I mean, I'm Italian and I've seen lots of my country. It was a wonderful experience and I am glad that we were able show it in the film. It's a great way to promote our country to the rest of the world. It was great for me to discover the area. As an actor, I am part of the culture. I helped Bella and other actors feel at home. But I did my best.

At the end of it all, I felt like everyone enjoyed it. The food was incredible, the location was amazing. I woke up every morning eating eggs and truffle for over a month. I was just spoilt. Spoiled.

Last question: A scene in the film includes a masquerade party. Let's go through the process of filming this scene. Are there any dance rehearsals? Did you like your Regency-era dress?

It was great fun. I enjoyed dressing up in a movie costume and feeling like I was in another time and place. It's funny to admit that I was wearing the same kind of heels as men, but with boots. It was so hard to dance in those heels that I injured my back. It was horrible, but that's part and parcel of the job. It's part and parcel of the job. However, it's funny because I now see the movie. I love the final result but my back was hurt.

Now you're prepared for what the future holds if you have to wear such shoes again.

I don't mean to say that I will avoid them, but I will do what I can to make it work.
