The Butler jet is still available for fans to board, but they are not yet ready to disembark.
Gerard Butler was recently called the new king in the B-Movie... but his latest Rotten Tomatoes score tells a different story.
"Plane" defies gravity in many ways, from a respectable 74% Tomatometer Score to a jaw-dropping 95% Auditor Score.
The film's first weekend gross is estimated to be close to $12 million, despite a $25 million budget. This proves that the action movie can still make a profit without having to pay the extra cost and spectacle of starring as comic-book heroes.
Neben Butler are Tony Goldwyn, Yoson A, Daniella Pineda, Yoson An and Kelly Gale, with Jean-Francois Richardet as the director.
The synopsis says that "Plane" is "white-knuckle action movie" starring Butler as Brodie Torrance, a pilot who must save his passengers from lightning strikes by landing on an island in war-torn. But he soon discovers that just surviving the landing wasn't the end.
"When the majority of the passengers are held hostage by rebels, Torrance can only count on Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an alleged murderer who was being transported to the FBI. Torrance will need Gaspare to help rescue the passengers. He will soon discover that there is more to Gaspare then meets the eye.
Butler's previous films ("300", How to Train Your Dragon") received audience ratings at 89%, 90% and 89% respectively, proving his star power.
The most striking example of the discrepancy between audiences and critics was his 2019 sequel to "Fallen," "Angel Has Fallen," that received a mere 39% Tomatometer Score compared to a 93% Audience Score.
