Sometimes you need to be assertive. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's rude. It's setting boundaries.
Gigi Hadid shares how she has adjusted her life in order to manage Hashimoto's.
Elle interviewed the supermodel, who was 27 years old, about the limitations she has faced in her job since being diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder. Hashimoto's, an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid, causes fatigue and problems with body temperature regulation.
"I usually take a nap during lunch breaks and eat my lunch after I finish retouching my hair and makeup. It's something I have had to live with for many years. Hadid stated that sometimes it is better than others.
The Guest in Residence founder shared her experience with how shooting in unusual temperatures can cause severe physical damage. She explained that it can take a long time for her body to adjust temperature wise after a cold shoot. It can also make her shaky.
Hadid also spoke out about how Bella and she have learned to be tolerant of paparazzi and their management team.
The former Victoria Secret Angel stated that one of my boundaries is that I must tell my team when it's time for me to rest. They've been supportive and understanding of that. But, I believe I've learned to make it work for myself, and what helps my get through the day.

Hadid is well aware of the limitations Hashimoto's has on her, but she is determined to prove her abilities.
Hadid revealed to the publication that she had been through a rigorous audition process before being cast as co-host with Tan France on Netflix's "Next in Fashion."
"Netflix was hard on me. I was really put through an audition process. That made me feel great when I was offered the job. It felt like I was worthy of it, which gave me the confidence to pursue it."
She said, "You feel like you are being impersonated and then you wonder if they're just giving me the show because I have many followers." I was able to jump in headfirst because they really questioned my motives for being on the show. "If they believe I can do it, that gives me more confidence that I wouldn't have otherwise."
After growing up in the public eye, Hadid became emotional when asked by the publication what the world didn't know at first glance about her.
Gigi shared how she is perceived by the public through a series pictures and moments. But she believes that she is a person you must meet in order to fully experience her.
"I believe that I am someone you need to experience with. It's not difficult. This is not a problem. She said that it's more because in my job, there are a lot of snapshots. "There are many snapshots, and very quick moments, where there isn't a lot context."
Although the world may never see Gigi as she is, she said that her daughter Khai, who she shares with Zayn Maklik, has seen her for herself.
She clearly sees me in all states and ways, and she doesn't know it, but I'm learning and going through life together. She said that she believes she has a realistic view of the world around her, which she can see 24/7.
