Hacksaw, Hatchet Found in Trash Search for Evidence In Ana Walshe Disappearance: Report

The search also led to the discovery of blood and cleaning supplies.

As authorities searched through trash this week for evidence regarding Ana Walshe's disappearance, they found some troubling results.

CNN Boston and CBS Boston reported that investigators discovered "trash bags with blood and a hatchet at a Peabody transfer station." CBS reported that Brian Walshe's vehicle had "evidence" it was clean.

After prosectors had already reported that they found blood and an "infected knife" in Walshe's basement, two law enforcement sources said to CNN that investigators discovered searches on Brian’s internet records for “how to dispose off a 115-pound woman’s body” and dismemberment.

"Search activity in Boston yesterday led to a number items being collected. These items will now be subjected to testing and processing to determine if their evidentiary value for this investigation." A spokesperson for Norfolk District attorney Michael Morrissey stated that no details on the items were being disclosed. He did not confirm reports.

Ana, a mother-of-3, aged 39, was last seen by a relative at home on New Year's Day between 4-5 a.m. The woman was supposed to ride a rideshare to Logan Airport in Boston on January 1st for a flight from Washington, DC. However, she never got on a plane. Prosecutors also claim that there is no record of any rideshare ever arriving at the home.

Both her husband and her employer reported her missing on January 4. Since January 1, her phone has been off and there hasn't been any activity on her credit card accounts. According to WCVB, Monday's DA stated that her employer filed the initial missing person report.

Brian was later taken into police custody and charged with "misleading the police" during an investigation into her disappearance. Brian pleaded not guilty to the charges but was still held on $500,000 bond.

Lynn M. Beland, Norfolk First Assistant District Attorney, claimed that Brian purchased $450 worth of cleaning supplies from Home Depot on January 2, after Ana was last seen and before she was reported missing. Fox25 reports that a prosecutor said that he also bought a tarp and mops from the store, as well as tape and other cleaning supplies.

Walshe is currently under house arrest for wire fraud, interstate transport for a scheme of defrauding, possession or converted goods, and illegal monetary transaction. He is required to report whereabouts when he leaves the home. On January 1, Walshe was granted permission to visit his mother. However, he claimed that he lost his way on the way. He also claimed that he visited Whole Foods near Ana's home and CVS, but no receipts or surveillance footage shows him ever going there.
