Hailey Bieber also explains why she believes rumors of a nonexistent feud between Selena Gomez and her will never stop, no matter how much the two women protest or deny that there is a beef.

Hailey Bieber sets the record straight on one of her most notable fashion choices. She laments that the truth doesn't seem powerful enough to stop some ugly, unfounded rumors, like the so-called feud she had with Selena Gomez.

Hailey, just weeks after New York Magazine 's cover article in December 2022 brought "nepo" into the cultural conversation, proudly walked the streets with a tee shirt emblazoned the (very small) words "Nepo Baby."

Hailey said in an interview with Bloomberg that it was her "little commentary on the entire discourse" at the time. She said that she was not trying to "poke a joke at it, or be like 'Yeah I'm a neo-nazi baby' and other ha-ha types of things."

She does, however, acknowledge that the term "neo-nazi" is a valid one. She said that she was responding and acknowledging what others were saying.

She was surprised that the shirt got her a "mixed reaction". You're going sit there all day and call me nepo baby, but when I acknowledge it then I am not enough of nepo baby? The daughter of Stephen Baldwin, a famous Baldwin brother, said this. "It's as if there is no winning on the internet."

Hailey Gomez and Selena Gomez have both proven this to be true. Their only connection is that they either are or were in a relationship with Justin Bieber. Hailey is his wife and Selena was in a turbulent relationship with Justin Bieber when they were teenagers.

Since Hailey and Justin got involved with each other, fans have attacked both women. They've even begun to pit them against each other. Both women have denied there is any beef on record and tried to put an end to the nasty discourse.

Hailey now realizes that there is no stopping this... she doesn't think it's about her or Selena.

She said, "This isn't about the division and pitting of two women", on Bloomberg's The Circuit with Emily Chang. It's about the disgusting, vile hatred that can be sparked by completely made-up and twisted narratives. This can be dangerous."

She expressed frustration with the idea of creating a team to support a certain person, and then going online and waging war against that person's team. She said, "I don't care about that." "I want to have the ability to bring people together."

She and Chang both agreed that pitting women against each other -- "Because a guy? Hailey added that the phrase "It's awful" is also an old, frustrating cliche which serves to degrade women by making them into a bunch of squabblers and men-worshippers.

She lamented, "It is so disappointing that men are still treated this way." It's a sad world in which we live.

Hailey thinks that this perceived feud that fans have created is "just a little misunderstood" when she says, "I don't understand why we are always saying, and I am constantly saying, there is not issue or problem."

Hailey's comments are just a few weeks after she called out her followers in the comments of Selena’s post for going to war.

She posted this to her Stories.

"Doing this is not supporting my cause," she added. If you're doing that, you're part of a cultural group that I don’t want to be a part. Please don't be rude or say anything.

This led to a barrage of negative comments on Hailey's posts. But at least, both women are trying their best to remain above the fray.

In March, they also tried to calm their fans down, and even worked together to do so. Hailey had told Selena she was receiving death threats in addition to the usual negativity and bashing.

"This isn’t what I stand against." Selena wrote on her IG Stories that no one should be subjected to bullying or hate. I've always been a proponent of kindness, and want to see this stop.

It's sad that Hailey, Selena and their fans ignore reality and continue to promote something that doesn't exist. Hailey may be right, and it wasn't about her or Selena.
