The Scream 6 star spoke out about her struggle with alcoholism, opiate addiction and postpartum depression on GMA.
Hayden Panettiere, who starred in "Scream VI," is back in the spotlight and made her first TV appearance Monday since Jansen's death.
Today, the former "Heroes” star was a guest on Good Morning America. Michael Strahan, host of "Good Morning America," took a moment to speak to her brother, who, according to family, died last month from an "enlarged heart" and "aortic valve complications."
Strahan said, "We are sorry to hear of the passing of your brother Jansen. We send our love, condolences, and support you and your family." Panettiere looked at Strahan and began to cry, before saying, "He is right here with us."
Strahan spoke with Strahan about how she took a break acting to be able to concentrate on her battles with opioid abuse and alcoholism, postpartum depression, and why it was the right time to make "Scream 6" again.
"I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next." She said that she had to take four years off and was glad she did. "I needed to take care of my physical, mental, and spiritual health. Then, when it came back up, I was like, "I want to be part again of that."
She said that she had approached the filmmakers to discuss her return as Kirby Reed, who appears to have died in "Scream 4", and joked that she "willed" her back to life.

Hayden spoke out about her journey through GMA in a cover story for Women's Health.
She explained in it that her drinking became out of control after moving to Nashville to perform for the same show.
"Some people work out. She said that I wish that was my coping method. While alcohol might make you feel better at the moment, it can make you feel worse the next day and then you have to do it again.
Kaya, her daughter with ex Wladimir Klitschko, was also diagnosed with postpartum depression. She described it as feeling "extremely hopeless" after giving birth to Kaya in 2014. She began using opioids to treat a neck injury.
Hayden stated that she tried rehab but was unable to stop relapsing.
"I was 30. My face was swelling. I had jaundice. My eyes were yellow. I needed to see a liver specialist. I was gaining weight that I wasn't used to. Panettiere said that her hair was thinned and was coming out in clumps. She then went back to treatment in 2021 and received trauma therapy and a 12-step program.
Panettiere said, "A large part of my therapy was living in forgiveness." Making amends is a step in the 12-step program. They can make amends if they want to be a good person, and the best version of their self.
