Hollywood mourns the passing of Louie Anderson (legendary comedian and actor), who succumbed to blood cancer on Friday at the age 68.
His rep said that Anderson was suffering from diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. The death occurred just a few days following his "Baskets” star's death. Anderson's aggressive form of cancer is not known.

His career spans three decades as a comic, author and stage actor, as well as host of game shows. It all began in the 1980s, when he first appeared on "The Tonight Show".
Anderson was known for his stand-up comedy, and he also had many acting credits in television and film. Anderson starred in films such as "Coming to America" (1998) and its sequel (2021). He also starred in TV shows such as "Life with Louie", his animated sitcom, and "Baskets," a short-lived comedy on FX, which won him the Emmy for his role playing Christine Baskets.
Anderson hosted "Family Feud", a television program that aired from 1999 to 2002. Anderson was also a popular author. He wrote books like 1989's Dear Dad -- Letters From an Adult Child, 1993's Goodbye Jumbo...Hello Cruel World, and Hey Mom: Stories For My Mother, But You Can Also Read Them," which were all published in 2018.
He is survived by Lisa Anderson and Shanna Anderson, his beloved sisters.
Hollywood and the rest of the world took to social media following Anderson's death to pay respects to the icon.
Gilbert Gottfried, a fellow comedian, shared a picture of Anderson and the late Bob Saget on Twitter. Saget died earlier this month. "This photo is very sad right now. He wrote, "RIP Bob Saget. RIP Louie Anderson." "Both were good friends and will be missed."
Henry Winkler tweeted the same, writing: "Your generosity will cover the whole world from above.. We are so fortunate you were here for a moment, spreading your humor everywhere like bars of living silver.. Goodbye."
Kathy Griffin called Anderson "a singular comedian." Anderson did something that no one else in comedy could do.
Viola Davis, actress, tweeted "RIP Louie Anderson!" You were just as kind and gracious as you were funny. Rest in peace! Keep them laughing in Heaven," Emily Osment wrote. "RIP Louie Anderson. You were so entertaining on long road trips, and when I needed to have a good time. I hope you are enjoying pickled eggs in a beautiful place. I am grateful that I have your humor just a few clicks away.
