Late Night Hosts Roast Tucker Carlson after Fox News Exit: "What A Delightful Surprise"
We will begin with some news about the show. "As you may have heard, CNN has parted ways yesterday with anchor Don Lemon", said Harlow.
She continued, "CNN's CEO Chris Licht expressed his gratitude to Don for all of his contributions during the past 17-year period, writing: 'Don is forever a member of the CNN family. We wish him the best and will cheer him on to his future endeavors.
Collins added, "Absolutely. Don was an important part of the show in the last six-months." He was the first CNN anchor to invite me on his program. It's something that I will never forget. Chris is right. "We wish him all the best."
Harlow said Lemon was "one [her] first friends at CNN." She said: "I am so grateful to have worked with him for 15 years and I wish him the best of luck in his future."
Harlow concluded by saying, "Kaitlan & I are very proud of this show." We are proud of our dedicated team who work around the clock every morning to bring you news. Our priority is you.
In November 2022, "CNN This Morning", co-hosted with Harlow Collins and Lemon, will debut.
Lemon announced his departure on Twitter himself, making clear that this was a controversial situation. He wrote, "My agent informed me this morning that I had been terminated from CNN. I am stunned. "After 17 years working at CNN, I would have expected that someone from management would have the decency of telling me directly."
"At any time, I was never told that I wouldn't be able continue the work I loved at the Network. He added that it is obvious there are larger issues at work. "I want to thank all my colleagues, and the teams that I've worked with over the years for a fantastic run. "They are the most talented and professional journalists I have ever worked with, and I wish all the best to them."
The network issued a statement stating that Lemon's account of the events this morning was inaccurate. He was given the opportunity to meet management, but chose instead to release a Twitter statement.
He announced his departure shortly after making comments about Nikki Haley (51), claiming that in a conversation with his co-hosts "Nikki Haley was not in her prime. Sorry." Women are considered in their prime when they reach their 20s, 30s or maybe even 40s.
After a short hiatus, he apologized.
Tucker Carlson, the FOX News anchor who was to leave his network on Monday before Lemon's departure, also announced his departure.
According to TMZ NewsNation may be interested in hiring Carlson and Lemon, but at lower salaries than they earned at FOX and CNN.
