How This Fashion Brand Uses Spacesuit Technology To Help Mitigate Your Menopause Symptoms

Louise Nicholson, a textile marketer, founded Fifty One Apparel in 2017. The company is named after the average age at menopause. Her clothing line is made to alleviate symptoms of menopause and uses spacesuit technology.

Nicholson created a specially-insulated fabric made with technology once researched by NASA to help regulate astronauts' temperatures when wearing a spacesuit--specifically, their gloves.

NASA developed Certified Space Technology(r) in 1980 after extensive research into space gloves. Although it was not used in any way, it helped to create future space gear. This technology evolved into Outlast(r), the clothing that Fifty One uses for their menopause-friendly clothes.

Nightwear: From NASA to Nightwear

Fifty One Apparel explains that Outlast(r), a cutting-edge phase change material, is constantly working to absorb and remove excess heat.

Fifty One Apparel fabric does not wick away sweat. Instead, it controls the production and distribution of moisture. This allows you to enjoy the best comfort possible.

Independent research shows that Outlast(r's thermo-material reduces sweat levels by as much as 48%. The best part about this material is the fact that it releases stored heat if your body temperature drops again, such as due to decreased activity.

Fifty One Apparel says that the fabric they use is made of Thermocules (tm), which are small polymer shells inside which Outlast(r), phase change materials are contained. The Thermocules (tm) are made durable by this encapsulation process. This allows our clothing to regulate the microclimate of your skin.

This material can be thought of as ice cubes in your drink. The cubes will melt and absorb heat, cooling the drink to maintain a comfortable temperature. This Outlast(r), fabric-based clothing helps "put the freeze on" hot flashes or night sweats.

Their clothing is versatile and can be worn at any time: in the home, at work, or even in bed.

Cool, casual comfort

Fifty One Apparel's breathable tops are "created for stylish women with cooling in mind." The temperature-regulating technology is featured in all their designs to keep you comfortable in any situation.
