The "Succession' series finale was a roller coaster of emotions -- and Twitter users had many opinions as the Emmy award-winning HBO drama reached a heartbreaking end.

Sunday's finale of the series revealed the winner and the fate of the Roy family company, Waystar Royco, in light the potential GoJo acquisition. It wasn't Logan Roy's kids -- Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv, (Sarah Snook), Roman, (Kieran Ruck), or Connor -- that won the show. Instead it was Tom Wambsgans.

The finale was dominated by the three of them working together to stop Lukas Mattson (Alexander Skarsgard's) GoJo buying Waystar, as they prepared for the vote. Shiv and Roman, after some back-and-forth, decided to support Kendall in his bid to become CEO of the company their father founded, thus stopping the GoJo acquisition.

Shiv, the person tasked to break the tie in the vote, changed her mind when the time came for the final ballot.

This led to an intense showdown between Shiv and Kendall. Shiv told Kendall that he couldn't be the CEO because he had "killed somebody." Remember in Season 1 when Kendall was in a car crash that killed a server?

Shiv sided with Tom after the fight became physical. Shiv and Tom were pictured in their final shot, leaving the car with each other. The couple had been on and off again. They held hands awkwardly and without affection. Roman ordered a martini in a bar and smiled slightly as he realized that he had finally been free.

Kendall was utterly distraught over the loss. Kendall's final shot, and the last moment in the series, featured him sitting on a park bench while he watched the sun set over the Hudson River.

Shiv Roy was smart, even when the situation was messed-up and difficult to digest. Her choice was a bit questionable, but it was her decision. She was not going to win and so had to choose her villain.
