How Two Men Helped Police Nab Suspects Who Fatally Shot, Burned and Buried Their Brother

How Two Men Helped Police Nab Suspects Who Fatally Shot, Burned and Buried Their Brother

The DA stated that the suspects had "not counted" on the victim’s brothers and the law enforcement continuously pursuing the whereabouts of the missing man -- "using their expertise in software engineering" to find his killers.

Prosecutors are praising the brothers of a student who was killed in a botched drug deal after their knowledge of technology helped them track down those allegedly responsible.

Zuhyr Hamza Kaleem, 22, ( below left), was killed on April 27, 2019 . Prosecutors say that he met with his former high-school classmate Jose Varela ( Above right) to make a marijuana transaction. According to the Harris County district attorney, Eric Aguilar fatally shot Kaleem after arriving at Varela’s house.

Varela dumped his car in Mexico. According to the DA's report, the two men took Kaleem’s body and burned it.

Umayr Kaleem and Uzair Kaeem were quick to act when their brother's car and vanished. They first learned about the drug deal and then accessed Zuhyr’s Snapchat account in order to find out who he was communicating with. Varela, the last person he talked to before deleting the app, was who the brothers found. They then "started asking, looking on Facebook and Googling" him.

Uzair told Fox News Digital that they "found a Facebook account and it was obvious that this was who Z spoke to last - we gave the information to police." He said it was "pretty obvious" that Zuhyr’s killers "tried to go into Z's mobile phone and wipe it completely."

Fox cites court documents to claim that Varela returned by foot into the US after Kaleem dumped his car in Mexico. Snapchat messages sent by him to Austin Walker, another suspect, showed him requesting clean clothes.

Walker, Aguilar, and Varela all faced murder charges after Kaleem’s body was found a year from now, in April 2020. Varela was sentenced this week to 45 years of prison after pleading guilty. Aguilar had been sentenced to a life sentence in prison with no parole in November. Walker has also pleaded guilt, but his case is still pending. In connection with the case, a fourth man was arrested after he admitted burying and destroying Kaleem’s body. His case status and charges are not known.

Aguilar claimed that Kaleem had pulled the trigger and that the shooting was an accident, but prosecutors have called it "premeditated killing."

Kim Ogg, Harris County District attorney said: "This was an intentional murder that caused a family to wonder what happened to a loved one for over a year." With the help of the victim's relatives and excellent police work, we managed to bring justice in this horrific case.

The Assistant District Attorney Tiffany Dupree said, "These defendants believed they were free of charges and that they could move on with their lives. But they didn't count on the victim’s brothers or law enforcement relentlessly searching for Kaleem." This family waited for a year to see their loved one, hoping and praying that he would return home. Then, they found out his remains were burned over a few hundred dollars of marijuana.

Kaleem’s family is "horrified", despite the arrests made and charges filed so far.

This person has pleaded guilty to premeditated killing. He'll be... out on parole in less than 20 year. Umayr said that he'll be back on the streets in less than 20 years.
