Celebrity couples are often well-known, with many being spotted together on dates or walking the red carpet together. Kim Basinger and Prince remained very private during their 1989 romance.

Basinger Moved to Minneapolis to Be with Prince in 1989

Basinger and Prince, like many stars-studded couples met at work. Both were in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman. Basinger played Bruce Wayne's love interest Vicki Vale while Prince composed the iconic soundtrack.

Basinger and Basinger fell in love so much that Basinger moved to Minneapolis, the home of the pop star, to be with him. Basinger's family wasn't pleased with the couple's romance. They even made it to Minneapolis to pick the actress up. Basinger fondly remembers her time with Prince.

The actress said The Daily Beast that "he's a brilliant talent." "There is no doubt about it. I don't have any boundaries so that was a great time in my life. It was a very special time in my life, and I have many great memories. Let's just say that I don't place too many restrictions on myself. We'll ride together if we have a connection. That was a great time in my life.

Prince and Basinger were so close that they worked together on music. The album Hollywood Affair was never released. Although the songs from this album are not yet available, Prince released another song that allegedly features Basinger.

According to reports, they recorded a single intimate recording

"Scandalous Sex Suite" is Prince's most steamy track. It features suggestive language and sensual sounds that some claim to be real-life recordings of the couple having an intimate moment. Jill Willis, Prince’s publicist, said that the song was a "lover’s dialogue" in a 1989 Lawrence Journal World article.

She continued, "It's the language itself but not the suggestiveness of it... that might make it kind of scandalous." Willis also mentioned that Paisley Park Records vice-president Alan Leeds visited the singer's studio while they were recording. However, he became uncomfortable and left when Prince opened an jar of honey.

She laughed, "I think that the fact he felt uncomfortable enough leave the studio tells us something." "I don’t think they were making tea." Prince was clearly very close to Basinger, but their romance ended.

Basinger had been in a relationship with Alec Baldwin by 1990. She would later marry him in 1993. They had a daughter, but they divorced in 2001. Prince was later to be with many other women, including Ananda Lewis and Carmen Electra. In 1996, he married Mayte Garcia, a back-up dancer. However, the couple split three years later. Although their relationship with Prince might have ended abruptly, Basinger and Prince were clearly close to each other, and they continued to live and work together until their separation.
