Meg Ryan was a key figure in blockbuster hits of the 1980s and 90s. The award-winning actress-turned-director was on quite the roll with hit roles until she surprisingly disappeared from the big screen. Ryan where is she after all these years of success?

"I'll Have What She Has"

Ryan was a well-known actress in Hollywood during her prime. Her comedy hits were followed by blockbuster after blockbuster. The actress who was best known for her scene in When Harry Met Sally at a diner eventually decided to take a break from her romcom roles. Many of her fans refused to have what she was having.

She had roles in dramatic movies during the 1990s but the most significant shift in her career came a few years later. Ryan starred as the erotic thriller in the Cut in 2003. It was a failure with critics as well as the box office. She released Against The Ropes the following year. Ryan may have suffered more from the movie's poor box office performance than Ryan. The Stinkers Bad Movies Award awarded the role "Worst Actress" as well as "Worst Fake Accent". These awards are far from her American Comedy Award and Blockbuster Entertainment Award.

Meg Ryan: Burning Bright To Burning Out

Ryan took a bold step after a few failures. She decided to step out of the spotlight and live a more quiet life. In a 2019 interview, she said that acting was not something she was as interested in as other things. Ryan later admitted that she was done with Hollywood. The comedic actress said that she was "burned out". "I didn’t feel confident enough about myself and the world to be able to act it out as an actor. I felt isolated."

Ryan chose to spend more time with Jack Quaid, Daisy True Ryan and her children. In 2015, she tried her hand at directorial work. She also directed and starred as the lead in the dramatic movie Ithaca. It was based on the 1943 novel The Human Comedy.

Meg Ryan is still living a more peaceful life but she is open to taking on new projects. Netflix revealed earlier this year that Ryan will be directing a movie. This film, A Lady's Guide To Selling Out will mark the second time Ryan has sat in the director's seat. It's possible that we will be surprised. Ryan may make a comeback by directing this romantic comedy. It's always a pleasure to see her work.
