Jada pinkett Smith, a lifelong friend of Tupac Shakur's, weighs in on the matter after Duane Keefe D. Davis was indicted on Friday for open murder and the use of deadly weapons in connection with the gang-related killing of 2Pac in September 1996.

The actress posted a series of Instagram Stories this weekend after Duane Keith Davis, aka "Keefe D", was arrested on Friday for the murder of her childhood best friend.
"Now I'm hoping we can get some more answers and be a little closer R.I.P. "Pac," she wrote.
Pinkett Smith first met Tupac in the 1980s, when both were attending the Baltimore School for the Arts. She has always insisted that the relationship between them was not romantic. However, as close friends they remained until his death.
As reported by PopCulture.com, Smith opened up in an episode of "Red Table Talk" from 2018 about her "best friends", revealing that many of them didn't have long lives.
"I have suffered a lot." She said, "So many of my closest friends are gone." They didn't live to be 30. "They didn't live past 25." Many people discuss my relationship with Pac. "That was a big loss in my life."
Shakur and Death Row Records CEO Suge knight were in a car when a white Cadillac pulled alongside them. Shakur was hit by shots. Shakur died in hospital the next day.
Davis was a person-of-interest because he admitted he had been in the Cadillac. TMZ states that they reopened the investigation in 2018. Davis gave interviews and wrote a book on Shakur's murder. He was charged with open murder and use of a deadly weapons with a gang enhancement.
Sekyiwa Set, Shakur’s sister, told TMZ that his arrest was a crucial moment. Our community has heard loud and clear the silence that has surrounded this case for 27 years.
She continued, "It is important that the world, our country, justice system and people recognize the graveness of the death of this man. He was my brother, mother's child, father's child." "His death and life are important and shouldn't go unrecognised or unsolved, so yes, I consider today a win, but will reserve my judgment until the legal proceedings and all facts have been completed."
She concluded, "There are many people involved in the death of my brother Tupac as well as our Shakur family." "We seek real justice on all fronts."
