"Growing up, my sis became very famous, globally famous when I was very little"
Jamie Lynn Spears has opened up about her struggles with self-esteem and self worth after growing up in Britney's shadow.
The actress wept as she shared her feelings about not being seen as "her own person" or having "anything" to herself, Wednesday's premiere of "Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test" was a heartbreaking moment.
After struggling to complete the first exercise in which she relived her daughter's tragic ATV accident six year ago, she was sent to the Psychological Evaluation Room, where she admitted to the Directing Staff that the experience was very triggering.
Jamie Lynn started to weep as she recalled the traumatizing accident. She then confessed that she wanted to feel "worth something".
The "Zoey 101” alum answered the question, "It just feels that every time I try really hard to get something for myself, it's almost like it's not worth it."
She continued, "Growing up my sister became internationally famous when I was very little," she said. "I love her so much, and I'm proud of her. Sometimes, though, I feel like I don't have enough for myself," she said.
In a confessional, the "Zoey 101” alum said, "I can feel extremely proud for my sis, but I also have my identity and be expected be seen as my own person."
Jamie Lynn, a mom of Maddie, 14-year-old, and Ivey (4-years), said, "I struggle with my self-esteem all too often and I really want to pretend it because I don't want my children to ever feel the same feelings I feel."
Britney and Jamie Lynn had major drama last January when Jamie Lynn's memoir "Things I Should have Said" was released. Britney and Britney fought over Jamie Lynn's claims in the book. Britney also criticized Britney for her interviews with "Nightline" in support of the memoir.
Britney eventually said that she loves her sister "unconditionally" but added that it was "so tacky" for a family "to fight publicly like that" -- while asking her sister to show some loyalty to her instead of showing it "to the people that have hurt me most" during her conservatorship battle. Jamie Lynn asked her sister to contact her and they could resolve the matter offline.
"I am happy to tell you how many times I have reached out to you, supported and attempted to help. This is unacceptable and must stop. She added, "I love you."
The series is broadcast Wednesdays at 8 PM ET on Fox.
